See, too many people have experienced this. We'd much rather them say "I DON'T KNOW" then to give us false information.

Just a note: The Bold and Storm came out far too closely together for the Storm OS to be based on the Bold's. Most likely both stem from 4.5, but were intentionally designed to be similar.

Money and time, though the time bit gets back to money.

Software development is a very laborious and EXPENSIVE thing. Creating a custom OS for the Storm would have delayed the release by at least a year, cost hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars and it would have risked alienating a lot of RIM's core customer base who probably are upset enough with the changes in the UI. These are the kind of people who scream bloody murder when something shifts by about 2 pixels. Someone I know calls these people "Maccies" since these people very often tend to gravitate towards Apple products.

Crucial said something about a 6.0 in an earlier thread about 5.0... Could have been a typo, could have been an unintentional slip. I don't know, and decline to speculate. If Crucial wants to clear it up, that's up to him.

Honestly, the phones OS isnt really bad. I havent had major trouble with it at all. Almost as if I didnt know OS upgrades was possible. I wouldve thought it just stayed like that and still wouldve been happy and impressed with the phone.

***Off topic,

Why does the OP show 0 posts?

Weird, since he has to have at least the 1 to start this thread

Posts in this forum do not add to your post count.

Edit: The op started this thread in the OS forum so it looks like when a post is moved here, posts made in this thread while in the other forum are subtracted from your post count....

I have heard this too, and plans for recreating an OS for the storm. I will look for a link to an article about it.

Because a significant amount of their market are existing BB users. They needed to do something that balanced what consumers want with what BB users expect. I think they did a great job and it will be awesome once they get the bugs worked out.

So what are the odds of RIM releasing 5.0 as the official release and all these leaks were corporate's way of sniffing out NDA breakers?
