Default Specific Vlingo Version?

Does anyone know the version of Vlingo that allows SMS texting? The new 3.0 version says it can only SMS contacts that already have Vlingo or if I buy the 20$ Pro version. I know there is an older version that can be used with SMS to non-Vlingo contacts (or so I have been told), but I cant seem to find the version of it.

Anyone?

The older version was still allowing it however they are no longer offering that version for download anymore. You have to buy the Pro to get all capabilities.

Kinda sucks but I took the plunge. Its a great app and is always getting better.

The recipient does not need to be a vlingo user with Pro. You can send voice sms, emails, etc to anyone. Use it to send sms to my gf all the time.

I have also been looking for this version of Vlingo (2.0), but I am struggling getting it loaded through my Desktop Manager. This is probably something a novice should be able to do, but I have never loaded anything on my BB this way. Please help!

Go here and follow the directions.... read all of the posts in the first 2-3 pages so you dont get yelled at by ppl in there for posting something already answered.

Thank you for pointing me in that direction. Appreciate it. But again, it didn't help me at all. I have done exactly what was said to do, and before you decided to let me know I could look there I might add, and am still unable to figure it out. You know I appreciate the help and warning of people getting angry at me for asking a silly question to them, but I have searched and searched, and have gotten no where. Just because I don't post much doesn't mean I haven't looked for answers before I post. Come on, people can talk all they want but they are behind computer screens and usually behind about 20 people saying B.S. there is 1 person with useful information. Thanks again. So if someone has an idea of why this file, after I unzip it, isn't being recognized on either DM or apploader please let me know.

If u already have a current version of Vlingo on your device, or DM, or App loader, it has to be removed first.

If that does not help, post your step by step installation process and tell us what is going wrong. Well try to asses the situation.

I don't currently have vlingo on either my phone, DM, or app loader. It is currently in 2 different .alx files on my computer.

The first way, I try going through DM and loading it through application loader. I click on it, then I click on add/remove applications. In there I can see all the apps I currently have on my phone as well as the ones I can load on to my phone, no vlingo. I then go to browse and I find the .alx file I downloaded and unzipped from this very thread. I click on it and it thinks for a little bit. Then I get a message saying, " No additional applications for your device were found."

The second way, I try going through apploader. I open up apploader, click next and next. This brings me to the screen that shows me the applications I can load as well as have currently on my phone. I then click on the add button and find the .alx file I unzipped from the file on this thread. It thinks for a second after I click add. Then I get the message, " No additional applications for your device were found."

I believe I have done everything listed to do in all the other threads about having an issue like this. If you think there is something else to try, let me know. I will try another computer, but since I don't have access to it all the time, I haven't had a chance yet to take care of it. I'll keep whoever cares to try and help posted.

when unzipping that zip file, u gotta make sure ALL the files r in the same folder when extracted
then open apploader via c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe
next > next > add > alx file > open

This file worked for me. I don't understand why this did and the others didn't but thank you. I didnt do anything different as I always kept everything together. I just extracted and uploaded. I hope this doesn't happen again as I don't know why it worked, but just that it did work. Thank you very much.
