Droid sounds like a pretty solid phone, but I'm holding out for the HTC Passion. Any ideas on how to upgrade to that one free? |

$Matt | The storm manual doesn't tell me what to do when it freezes as I try to exit a program to make it magically work again, or what to do when I go to landscape and the keyboard is still in portrait.
All these fun quirks one must figure out unassisted.

Try to voice dial with your Droid.. It will never put your call through, you will have to touch your screen to complete your "voice activated call", and transfer your pictures to the Droid, without mounting it first, and it will delete them all, it is locked to Verizon, you can't use it anywhere else, oh, and not a world phone. I had it for 1-1/2 days, it is dummy proof with no manual and all that though. It is just a souped up Voyager2 in my book, with a data plan. Why do you need a data plan for a smart phone? It isn't a PDA after all.

No, you're right, it isn't a world phone but the OVERWHELMING amount of people in here don't need those capabilities anyway. Verizon is my carrier, why would I need to use it anywhere else?

F'in AWESOME.
2) I don't even know how to transfer files without pushing the mount-button?? Theres no drive on my desktop .. one button to connect is fine.
3) It's not a world-phone - this is true. Bummed on that front.
I just know I don't have a friggin gum-wrapper behind my battery just so my phones click works right! .. hahaa.. STORM.. what a perfect name for the buggiest nightmare on the planet.. Can't even dial a phone number right!!

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping that I will get one of those upgrade early emails, or waiting until Christmas time when they will probably bring the price down to $129 or something.
Have fun with your Droid!

I just have to say this past year with the blackberry storm has been my absolute worst nightmare..
I've been through every os update, every workaround, every hybrid.. Pulled that damn battery hundreds of time, if not thousands, and had my phone crash under every single circumstance imaginable. It was a crack addiction.. Just one more hit.. One more os update! And this phone will work like its supposed to!!
Still the dream of having 3g coverage under verizon was something i had to persue..
The storm was barely functional as a phone - pathetic as a media player, a sub-par browsing experience, and i wouldn't touch that camera with a 10-ft pole.
After two days with the droid it's amazing to have that safe feeling of knowing.. My phone wont crash.. Things work as they are supposed to.. And above and beyond that its everything storm users have been begging for and wishing was in software update after update after update..
I'm never worrying about free memory, always have 10+ applications open at the same time, and my phone is nothing but an absolute joy to use. I look forward to any opportunity to pop its screen on.
My sincere message to anyone caughtup in the blackberry game, get out!! Too much energy has been devoted to this black-hole of a device.. Stop wasting your energy and trade up to a device that gives back to you..
Goodbye crackberry!! Im out!!!! For good!!!

How much trouble did you have to give them to get that Droid for free? Any tips? | One of my users left our BES server, has his Droid and so far there's no answer for the calendar app to constantly crash.
I sort of chuckle 'cause I was getting sick of Storm but am happy with the 5.0 OS. My phone is very fast now and is great as a tool vs. toy.

| That's a pretty token thing to be the topic of your absolute worst nightmare.
I mean, waking up and finding alien parasites half way through devouring your genitalia, that's not as bad as having a Blackberry Storm? How about terrorists slowly peeling off all your skin to get you to talk because they don't believe you really don't know the location of their missing illudium q-36 explosive space modulator? Seems pretty bad, but still not as bad as a unsatisfying phone?
