Exclamation Maximizing application memory & minimizing OS lags

hi.
i guess this is what we all look for... in all hybrids... in all OS versions...
- stable performance (no lags)
- super fast performance & optimized memory usage

This seems to be the present scenario:
- we all use few or many applications which take up some amount of application memory
- applications running in the background or for a longer period seems to deplete application memory & battery faster
- there's this huge event log.... which keeps track of all events

Now... in order to match what we want with what we have... we need to come up with solutions...
some of the "so called" solutions are:
- logmaid
- memory up
- meterberry
and so on....

we need a single app that can do the following:
- close idle apps (this will help to free a lot of memory) and help minimize apps running in the background
- clears event logs after regular intervals
- defragments & releases application memory
- optimizes process queue/cache for optimal performance of OS and apps

is there any such app available for blackberry storm??
or is there any other alternative solution to this??

This can/is already being done. Nothing will fix a memory leaking application other than deleting and fixing that application.

Clearing event logs honestly does little to nothing. Maybe 100k of application memory.

The best thing you can do it delete problem applications or run Quickpull daily. That is what I do and I never have any problems. I have it run at 5:00 AM while hooked up to my charger and it still allows my alarm to go off, so my life remains unaffected.

How do you know what application is causing the memory leak?

after you install it you memory starts dropping, i bring up the task switcher and make sure extra things are not running, clear my browser cache after using it, run the built in mem cleaner, if i install an app and end up not using I delet it, check the DB every now and then and clear the ones that are not needed, i hover around 53MB

Markdental.... I notice you said your QP runs daily at 5 a.m. That's what I tried to do, and it kept failing and said it couldn't do it because the phone was locked. Mine sits on my charging dock all night, and I wanted it to do it while I was sleeping but had to reset it to 6:30 so that it isn't locked. Is that normal?

(Sorry, OP for jumping on your post for this one).

Memory consumption is not a memory leak. Just because you see your free memory decrease, doesn't mean you have a memory leak. Memory is meant to be used. It shouldn't be a concern unless your memory drops to such a low value that if affects the performance of your phone.

See the MeterBerry FAQ on our website.

Exclamation

I run QP at 4:00 am and it dosent seem to interfere with any important aspects of my life. it seems like re-installing QP might help you out.

As for apps and memory leak, un-install any of the apps you dont use anymore and run a QP or battery pull every day so you reset your pone and bring it up to par.

have you tried qp-pro and ensured that your device isnt actually locked at the time? kinda of weird that it will reset at 630 but not at 5..

Make sure the device is not locked when you put it on the charger. If you have autolock make sure that it doesn't lock while the phone is hooked to the charger. There is a setting for that.

At 6:30 I am awake So my device, by then, is out of the charger and awake along with me.

I don't have a lock application on there, but it does lock after a period of time- and I don't see a way to change that setting. I have it set up so it doesn't lock when holstered.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, or I could just start a new thread on this and stop hijacking the OP's thread.

You must have downloaded a program that locks the phone. Go to options and look for autolock. Adjust settings accordingly.

If you put your phone on the charger while it is unlocked it should not lock and then quickpull should run properly.

No dice. I don't have autolock. The only thing I have that qualifies, I guess, is StormLock, but it's disabled (and that's only for locking the screen while in phone calls, from my understanding). Not to mention, my phone automatically locks (and requires a password to reopen) after about 30 mins regardless, and has since I got it.

Maybe I am going insane.

Go to options, advanced options, applications. Check the list for a possible cause of the lock. That is not a normal part of the OS.
