- Introduction:
Hi, Crackberry Nation. I got the Storm in February and I have been on an epic quest to find The Perfect Case ever since. Silicone skins, the various helicopter blade plastics, Innocase hybrid, and the Incipio Silicrylic... none of them were ideal. My latest is the Incipio Feather, a brand new option from Incipio Technologies.
Overview:
(also in black, white, red, pink, and dark blue)
The Feather is intended to provide some protection without compromising looks or feel. It is intended to create minimal added bulk, similar to the Innocase II. It currently comes in black, white, red, pink, purple, and dark blue. It is 1 mm thick, made of very lightweight polymer, and retails for $19.99. Also included are two screen protectors and a small microfiber cloth.
Initial impressions:
Love it, love it, love it.
The case snaps on easily, and it never made me worry that I was going to break it or hurt my Storm. It snaps right on to the sides. Once on, the case doesn't budge. It doesn't feel like it could possibly come off accidentally except in a very hard drop (read: throw against a wall?). Nevertheless, it is simple to remove if that's what you want to do.
The case is hard plastic, but flexible enough to conform nicely to the Storm's shape and make it easy to put on and remove as needed. The plastic has a rubbery feel, to provide a grippy feel not unlike the OEM silicone skins. However, it does NOT attract lint and slides easily in and out of pockets.
I got the purple case, and it is a great color. There are no imperfections in the color at all.
One of the best parts, in my opinion, is that it is all one piece. Unlike the Innocase II, there aren't any clips to wear out over time or break.
The only thing goofy is that the USB port's cut out is a bit large (see pictures). I can only assume that this was an attempt to allow various accessories to fit, but I haven't tried anything other than the standard chargers to test this theory.
In terms of the additional accessories, the microfiber cloth isn't my favorite because I prefer larger ones, but it isn't rough. The screen protectors are similar to those available from Verizon.
Longer term:
Still love it! I have had this case now for about a week. I still love it as much as I did when it arrived, and removing it a couple of times has not caused any apparent loosening of the grip it has on the phone when installed. At this stage, there is no visible wear on the case itself nor any damage to the phone. The case still hasn't attracted any lint at all and has continued to be easy to get in and out of my pockets.
Conclusions:
If you take out your anger on your phones, keep looking. This case maintains the Storm's sleek look, but as a result there is an obvious compromise between looks and protection. This case will be ideal for people who want a more solid-feeling Storm with some protection and do not have a serious clumsy hands problem. That said, this case makes the Storm much easier to handle without feeling like you'll fling it across the room, in my opinion. I would absolutely get another one and recommend them.
Pros:
-Great feel - grippy without attracting lint or getting stuck in pockets
-Cut well, with all the ports lined up properly
-Great, vivid color
-Buttons are still easy to access and press
-Attaches to the Storm well without being difficult to put on or remove
-No movement of the device within the case
-Extremely thin, about 1 mm - does not add significant bulk
-One piece, unlike the Innocase II - no clips to wear out over time
-Maintains the good looks of the Storm
Cons:
-It's no Otter Box; phone abusers, look elsewhere
-It does not cover all of the chrome. The thin band that is still exposed should not be damaged because the edges of the case provide a bit of a buffer, but if you don't like the look of the chrome you won't be a fan.
-While it's easy to put on and remove, you'll want a program like Quick Pull or Soft Reset if you have a battery pulling habit, just to make your life easier.

Currently, the cases are not yet available through the Crackberry store. Kevin said that they will be soon, but until then here's how to order.
Go here, and scroll down to the cases that say "Ultra Light Feather Slim Form Fitted Case for BlackBerry Storm." This way you can see the six colors.

As of right now, there are no plans to make the Feather for the BlackBerry Bold. I'll forward the suggestion to our Art/Productions team though! It's a great idea, as it is our most popular case!04-21-09 01:09 PMLike 0 -
