As if it wasn't bad enough that my crappy wireless company [with spotty service] sent me a bad 8310 which they then replaced with another bad 8310. They told me save time and get replaced at a local Device Support Center where the 'helpful rep' simply erased all of the info off the one I brought in and gave it back to me [IMEI was the same]. I complained. They said email the CEO. That ***** never responded [I had just renewed my contract]. I'm too cheap [at least for now] to break the contract and move to Verizon and am awaiting the 3rd lemon from folks with the bars.
So, if any of you are thinking about getting a BB and don't know which service to use, I can tell you at least one not to.
Happy hunting.
---------------------------------------
First AT&T Wireless, my sorry wireless provider with horribly spotty service, sent me a bad 8310. They then replaced it another bad 8310. They then told me to save on shipping time by getting it replaced at my local Device Support Center where the 'helpful' rep erased all the info off my phone and gave it back to me as if it were a different one [the IMEI number was the same]. I complained and was told to email the CEO but he never responded as I'd just renewed my contract in getting the phone in the first place. I'm too cheap, at least right now, to break my contract and go with Verizon.
But if any of you are looking to get your first BB and trying to decide what provider to use, allow my experience to help lead the way - to a company that actually cares about their customers.
So, what confidence should I have that this THIRD phone is going to be anything other than a piece of junk. And if it's not, what other wholly less than satisfactory remedy should I expect from your customer-screwing company? I'm looking for the best agency to receive a complaint about AT&T since you guys obviously don't give a sh*t.

Now, I would be livid if that were me. You should ask ppl in here if they know of ways to break your contract or, better yet get you a new phone that works.

I actually had a problem with my 8310 and was adivised the same thing about going to the device support center. I went there and they exchanged out my 8310 with another device no problem. And I haven't had any problems with at&t since.

I can see your frustration, but rather than bash the people that YOU CHOSE to renew your contract with, how about maybe going back to the DSC and asking for another person to help you? Better yet, go to a different one in the area, or an actual AT&T store?
There are more options that you clearly have not opted for. Too often, I see people shoot the gun and rip their carrier a new ace BEFORE THEY EXERCISE ALL OPTIONS.
And really, do you REALLY expect the CEO of a large corporation like this to email you back with a piddly phone problem? The carriers' major concerns are with the SERVICE, not the phones - contact the MANUFACTURER or another CSR rather than settle for what you clearly are unhappy with.

@Zamey: Dude no, I do not expect the actual CEO to respond but as it was the suggested remedy by two AT&T reps, I expected some follow up. And to your first point, rather than waste more time at the DSC only to possibly later discover a culture of disservice at a location, I believe that the national folks would be - and were - more horrified by the service of the locals than the locals, hence my dealing with the call in.
And the manufacturer will [and has] refer me to the carrier.
What else you got?

I love my att service I switched to vzw once ended up breaking my contract and going back to att. I don't know about anywhere else but in the sacramento and outlying areas I get the best coverage on att and they have never done me wrong. So it makes me sad to hear a lot of these horror stories. However I don't believe that it is entirly their fault for some reason. There are always gonna be that percentage of devices that get shipped out that never work right.

I'm curious to see what the remedy is now. | So what is this "problem" that all these phones have? Are you sure it is really a problem with the phone?
And they told you to email the CEO? I have a hard time seeing 2 separate employees telling you that unless you were a complete *** to them.

I don't truly believe you contacted the manufacturer, number one, because it's THEIR product technically leased out to the carrier. You have a manufacturer warranty on the phone, and if you paid insurance for the thing through the carrier, you technically have double coverage over this sort of thing.
Number two. What exactly was "bad" with the phone? Was it just not to your expectations? Was it just not operable? You're a little vague when you whine.
Number three, I'll take this as a vent post only because the guy hasn't posted but three messages in over a months' time, and all three in this thread.
And I'm not a dude, I'm a woman. :-)

You know, I called and got to a manager and she let me off with over a year left on the contract, not ETF.
I recommend doing that and going to a better carrier.

I love ATT. I am currently writing this from my ATT 8310 just south of the Mississippi/ Alabama line, after having traveled from Northern New York to North Carolina, and from North Carolina to here. In this entire trip, I think I may have lost EDGE signal for a grand total of maybe 20 minutes. Not too bad IMO. In addition to that, ATT has replaced my BB twice, the first time for free under warranty (the charging port broke, a common problem I have learned) and the second time for the $50 insurance fee (due to my own carelessness). They have been very helpful both times. I have previously been with both Sprint and Nextel, as well as T-Mobile, Suncom (before they merged with T-Mobile) U.S. Cellular and Verizon, and let me tell you, I am an ATT customer for life. If you are courteous and talk to them with respect like humans, not dogs or slaves, ATT representatives will always be ready to help you out with whatever your situation is. So give it a try, you might find that your situation gets a lot better.

What exactly is this 'problem' you're having with 3 straight curves? I find it hard to believe the same problem would exist on 3 brand new phones.
