Anybody here using Windows Live Messenger on Telus that are unable to receive messages, but are able to send them ?
When I IM someone, they receive it, they reply, but it never shows up on my Blackberry...
Edit : Works fine now.

Notice:
Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Windows Live Messenger.

Doesn't work, I get:
"Désolé, votre appareil ne prend pas en charge Windows Live Messenger pour-le moment." basically your device does not support live messenger.

Tried both the icon and direct via link on my 8330,
No such luck.
Same message regarding not meeting system requirements.

I don't get it, the phones we have other people have it working on. Do you think maybe Telus is gradually updating service books? When I view mine it shows GTalk download, Y Meseenger download etc, but never says Windows Live. I've resent service books 3 times now..
Also when I browse my service books, I notice the first one is WLM 2.1 which is Windows Live Messenger I would assume.

Still no go, I'm going to just try and call Telus tomorrow because I think something is wrong. I tried that sprint guide above and installed those new service books. Doing that added windows live to the service book, but it erased my browser and others. So I wen tto the Telus site told it to resend service books and immediately within 5 seconds I had browser and everything back, so it's not a service issue or network coverage issue since they came back immediately. I still try to download from the BB or the website and it always gives that error device not supported.

It will not let you dl it from the bb or telus site, it has to be from the little icon that comes up when you send the service books. When you click on the little icon, it then brings you to a direct download. I tried via usb/on the bb itself and it did not work until I resent the service books via the website listed above.
If that don't work, just phone Telus, but make sure your not calling them from the actual phone, as it will cause it to disconnect the conversation.

I just got off the phone with Telus and they told me this is a known problem.
They they proceeded to tell me that the deplyment worked in testing but when they rolled it out to the public, something happened.
Since this issue started today, they have no idea of the timeline for resolution. But he assured me that they were working on it.
Oh well, so close yet so far. |

Oh well, so close yet so far. | Yes, I can confirm this as well, plus a bit more.
We have TWO Blackberry Curves 8330's here. They are identical, same plan, same everything, just different phone numbers. When I updated the Service Books on mine the WLM icon appeared, I downloaded the application with no problem and it runs perfect. Tried the same thing on the other one and I got the same error many others are getting that says, "Sorry your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Windows Live Messenger".
So what I know for sure is that for the Telus Blackberry Curve 8330 is DOES meet the requirments and DOES work...on some. On others it does not.
I'm pretty sure that it will work on ANY Telus Blackberry if the Service Book update puts the WLM icon on your screen. If you get the error message above it is a problem at Telus, not your Blackberry.
I too just got off the phone with their Blackberry Techinical support people and they advised they already have a trouble ticket open for this very issue. They don't know yet why it works on some Blackberries, and not on others, even when the model numbers are the same.
So hopefully it won't take too long to fix...hang in there. And if anyone who previously couldn't the the application to download suddenly can now, please let us know here....so we can all try again...
Good luck!!

It worked for me (the download and installation) yesterday morning, as soon as they released it...
Here is what you need in order to download WLM to your Blackberry :
- One Windows Live Mail (Hotmail) account registered on your BIS,
- Service Books (6) : - WLM 2.1 [KEYNEGO] - WLM 2.1 [BBIM] - WLM 2.1 [BBIMConfig] - Windows Live Messenger [BrowserConfig] - your.email.account@hotmail.com [CMIME] - your.email.account@hotmail.com [CICAL]
This is what I have on my 8830 since yesterday when I resent my service books. I added my hotmail account to the BIS last Wednesday, the 2nd of July.
.....Now that we are done with the Service Books/BIS part....
I spoke with a Telus Blackberry Tech yesterday about something not related to Windows Live Messenger, but he ended up speaking for 30+ minutes, maybe more...and he told me that they knew they were having issues with the WLM service at the moment, as if the server were not ready to handle such a big load, so my guess is that they are progressively adding their customers one by one to the public release of WLM for Telus...this is only my guess, tho...
.....And, once again, now that we are done with the Telus part....
Some of you may have troubles connecting and/or receiving messages on WLM once installed and connected.
Here is what I have done to make it work :
First, when I tried to connect for the first time to WLM on my BB, my WLM was still opened and connected on my home computer, so connect back to WLM on your PC and log out immediately after, make sure you log out from your BB first because some people told me that I was online on WLM even if my Blackberry AND my PC were not connected, so I guess you have to initiate a brand new connection to the server in order to receive your messages, or they will be lost in the big void of the internet...!
Well....I hope this will help you folks....I did not have hard time to install it, I only had trouble when it came to receive messages on my WLM for BB.

If it's a known issue I can wait, it's not urgent to have it or anything just as long as I know it's not me doing something wrong. I tried calling support last night at 9:30pm and the wait was over 15 minutes it said so was going to try today but now I won't, I'm sure they're stick of all of us calling in! I'll just keep updating my service books and see what happens.
I also don't think you need a hotmail account registered to your phone, that's silly. I don't even use hotmail just for MSN. You don't need a google or yahoo account registered to your phone to connect to those IM services.

It's downloading! I did nothing to my phone updated the service books few hours ago, prob my 15th attempt at that, tried to download still no go. No Live Messenger icon appeared on my home screen but I just randomly launched the browser and went to that download site posted above. Except this time after I said I accept, it started the download!!! I'm online right now!!! So I think it's just a matter of being patient until they fix the issues, but just for anyone else, the icon did NOT appear on my home screen, but I also haven't resent the service books in several hours either.
