The only way is to first call your voicemail, then turn the volume all the way down. Hit the menu, go to home screen and use the camera.

BerryAnnoying is worth every cent, and it's only a few dollars. I've used it on 3 of my berries including my 8900, works flawlessly.

Before throwing a blanket over all of us, keep in mind some of us have small children ( my 3rd is a month old tomorrow) and I don't want the loud freakin shutter sound to wake the baby when I'm trying to capture precious moments. So please don't generalize.

The only way i've found so far is the calling voice mail trick.

It works well enough, though eventually the voice mail call disconnects.

i'd love a permanent way to mute the shutter!

BuzzMe has a vibe and ring option, does not stop the shutter noise.

PeekABoo does, but takes 4 pictures at a time.. Honestly that's an app that a pervert would use IMHO... Lmao.
EDIT: no offense to anybody that uses it for non-perverted reasons

I think that is the point of peekaboo. I press the P key and it opens the camera, autofocuses, takes a very quiet picture, and saves it. Afterwards it leaves the camera app open, which I which I wish it didn't do.

There's a application called camera mute app, which actually adds a mute button to the option menu.I still use this app and its good enough.
