I've just received an email from RIM:

" An update of BlackBerry Device Software version 5.0 is available. This update includes optimizations and enhancements approved by your wireless service provider. "

I've connected my 8900 to the Desktop Manager and ... voila.

Official OS 5.0 from Vodafone Spain.

How can I know if is it an error?

For now, I cannot sync contacts with Google. I can't activate security.

OS 5.0 sync's contacts with the email... you might need to log into your provider's website where you setup your email... you should find a checkbox to sync your contacts.

Hopefully Vodafone UK wont be too far behind. I have resisted the urge to install a beta and have been waiting for an official release.

    Hi All.

I'm using a leaked version of OS5 (.314) on my BB8900 on the Orange Network. Runs brilliantly, no problems with the OS, stable as anything.

Yes, I have to login in the Vodafone Config page. There is an option to activate contact sync, but after enable it, it says that I must login in BB Email config utility and accept a security request.

This request doesn't appear and contacts aren't synced.

I suppouse that it is a Vodafone problem, not about firm.

I went to the Vodafone Spain blackberry software download site and for 8900 it seems they have some 4.6 version. I do not believe this 5.0 rumor is correct

Since it's the same application number as the latest leak, it would have to be the same OS anyway. With the 9000 getting an official 5.0 OS, it would only stand to reason that the 8900 would receive the same soon.

We don't typically post abt DM only installs. It's pointless since the only way you can get it is via DM and if you are a Vodafone Spain user.
