Default Newest OS: v4.6.1.315 for 8900

Newest OS 4.6.1.315 For 8900

The most recent OS release for the 8900 was released today (11/11) by AT&T.

It is version .315 which replaces .310 from Turkish carrier Aveo as the most up to date OS for the 8900.

Download Details
Software Name: BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.1.462 (Multilanguage)
File Name: 8900M_PBr4.6.1_rel462_PL4.2.0.108_A4.6.1.315_AT_am p_T.exe
Download Size: 122.434 MB
Language: English
Published Date: 11/11/2009

As always, if you download this OS, please remember to delete the vendor.xml file if you're not an AT&T customer.

The link for this download is here ---> https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...CFFA098FC4D4C1

1. Download desired OS to your PC
2. Install/run OS to PC
3. Delete vendor.xml file if not with At&t. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
5. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.

Interesting that AT&T would release a new OS version since we are so close to OS 5.0 version being released... and their OS for the 8900 is not very old.

Downloading it now. No big expectations that it will be a revolutionary change from more recent OS releases. With AT&T only having released .231 not that long ago, I'm hopeful we'll see some sort of advantage.

Probably a bug that had to be addressed now

Just finished downloading it and haven't been able to get off the phone with several calls. Too soon to tell but so far no difference ... not even a bit "snappier" so far.

Did that for me too. Just tell it to use the old stuff. I think it doesn't understand the new .315 OS. I told it to go old and it downloaded fine.

BTW, nothing worth reporting yet. I can't tell this isn't my old .250 OS. Everything is running identical.
