For install instruction to load any carrier 8900 OS on your BB:

1. Download desired OS to your PC
2. Install/run OS to PC
3. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader.
4. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
5. Do not unplug BB during the process. It may take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.

Hey thanks for sharing this! Hopefully there wont be too many people who will post

"thanks! downloading now" =)

ps. the easiest way to install the OS is by going to the folder
c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
and deleting vendor.xml and then double clicking on Loader.exe in that same folder.. installation will be a breeze.~10 mins.

and to be safe, switch to an original BB theme, this way the phone wont have any issues restarting after the install.

Can't wait to hear what people think of this one. I just upgraded to .206 yesterday, so I'm not in a big rush to do that again unless it's a lot better. So far no qualms with .206.

I have .239, unless there are changes to this official version of .231 that are better than the beta, then I might give it a shot. As a lot so far, I am waiting on feedback, too.

There wont be any real reason to upgrade/downgrade from.139.

I serious think that people should upgrade to this if their OS is .174 or older. Otherwise, the changes made are very hard to tell. No big diff..

Is there any way to go back to the way it was in .114, where pressing the BB button brought up the menu, and pressing it again closed the menu? I updated last night, and instead of closing the menu, pressing the BB button the second time selects "Move."

Surprised that barely anyone has commented on this new official OS.. I thought most ppl waited for official releases so i expected this to be filled with comments by now..
Any feedback or reviews would be great! I just wanted to know what are the updates and how is the battery life? I'm currently running .199 but I feel my battery life could be better.. Thanks for any feedback

I had the beta version of .206 and I found the battery was no where close to .239 so I'm guessing most people don't bother to comment cause most of us are on .239 already and this is considered old. In terms of UMA calling this is very good, I have not had 1 dropped call yet and also I just find the speed of .239 is much more faster and smoother when loading apps.

my 2 cents

So do you recommend me to download the beta .239 version instead of this .231 official version? Would you happen to know what are the major differences between the 2 versions? Thanks for any help

I think I'll try .231. I tried .239 but my calendar wouldn't sync to my BB anymore. Aside from that, everything is great
