Default Calendar "dots" too small

When viewing the calendar in the "monthly" view, a hour long appointment is a tiny speck that is hard to see (and very easy to miss)

Is there a setting to make this "dot" larger,
I love this phone, but if I cant fix this 1 thing, it's got to go back and I'll look at the "pre"

Thanks,
for any help,

Nick

There certainly is something you can do to make that tiny dot bigger. You can actually put some appointments into your calendar.

The monthly view is obviously there to give you a quick overview of your month. That "tIny" dot means you have virtually nothing booked for the date you are looking at. As you add more appointments, that tiny dot gets larger and larger showing you that a particular date has little or no activity (tiny dot) or a lot of activity (big line).

BlackBerrys are built for people with a lot on their plates, since you don't have many appointments you schedule, maybe the BlackBerry is too much technology for you and you'd be better off with the low tech Palm.

Old tech?

LOL.

I had a Franklin Planner until recently. It had become a nightmare. To book an appointment, I first jotted the appointment into the Franklin. Then I input it into my 8900. Then I uploaded into Outlook and Google Calendar. What a mess.

The problem was that I needed a process for note taking and the Franklin accomodated that. Typically PDAs and Smartphones have not been conducive to notetaking.

I downloaded Vlingo for quick "Notes2Self" and bought a Moleskin notebook and retired my Frankie. So far life is good. I just got to the point where I had to streamline my calendar process and something had to change.

you can just make extremely long appoints (like 9am to 5pm) even if you are not actually going to take that long

Big beefy dots are what I am after,
how do I snap on the Iphone emulator ??
Some times I have only 1 appointment a day (and it only takes 1/2 hour to kill someone), so the dots are real small, and I hate to schedule 2 killins at the same time. Why does the BB OS bother putting dots on the calendar if everyone who uses a BB has appointments all day everyday ???

In your "line of BS," errr I mean "line of work" you should be used to following small dots ... Like the kind laser scopes make.

This thread is really a total waste of time. If you have so little going on in your life, look at the daily or weekly view. BlackBerry has designed the monthly view to be a tool that shows you which days are busy and which days aren't. For people with more than one thing they usually need to do, this design is highly useful. BlackBerrys aren't designed for people with empty schedules who usually don't have anything going on in their lives and who need to check which days in a month have one 1/2 hour appointment and which days have nothing going on.

Appears maybe the Palm might even be too much technology. Maybe the other poster with the old Day Timer will sell you his planner and you can take your BB back and get a cheap Nokia.

Touchy, Touchy, I came to this forum and just asked about a "work around" on a short coming in the BB and the personal insults fly! You could have just stated the truth - there is no way to customize the calendar.
And yes, when I glance at the monthly view and can not tell if a day is clear or not (because I can not see a 1 pixel dot)that is a short coming that other smart phones do not suffer from.

I was warned about the "weak" calendar when I upgraded to the 8900, but really thought there would be a way around it.

So what is so special about the BB ? I really love my 7130C (the pixels where larger) but the others have left BB with the Amiga.

I muist say that I didn't get the BB 8900 based on the size of the dot in the monthly calendar. And, I won't get rid of it because of size of the dot.

If the BB 8900 doesn't meet you're needs, get something else that does. But for me and mine, it will be the 8900!

Not at all. You are just asking a silly question. When answered, you continue to want to debate it as if the answer would somehow change if your debate were to continue.

As was explained to you, the concept of having nothing going on in your life (not an insult - just the facts as you claim them) and requiring an odd monthly view feature customized to your "unusual" needs is something that is not a shortcoming on BB's part but a DESIGN FEATURE to help people who, as noted, have lots of things to coordinate.

The dot becomes larger as the day becomes fuller. Pretty simple.

To do what you want and make the dot large when any calendar entry is put on any date is counter productive to the design of the device. This has now been explained to you multiple times. If this doesn't work, perhaps you need to transition to a lower tech device as was earlier recommended.

This dead horse has now been beaten into the ground. Have a nice day.
