Hi all,
I'm getting a 8530 for Christmas, I am stupid amounts of excited, especially from reading all of the great reviews it's been receiving on crackberry. :)

My question is about how to make it work with Verizon. Currently, I have the "Select Plan" at 900 minutes, which is a great plan for my current phone (I text and talk quite a bit), but I'm wondering what sort of plan or additions I should be looking at to be able to use my BB to it's fullest extent.

As much as I love my Verizon store and the guys who work it next door, they do tend to be a little clueless sometimes, or try to get me to get stuff I absolutely don't need.

I also am an employee with FedEx, so I receive some plan discounts... but I don't want to overdo it pricewise.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

I can change phones now and am looking at the BBs. Just trying to decide which one to pick. My mom has a Curve and loves it. I have looked at the Storm, Storm 2, Tour, Curve, and have debated about the Droid. Not completely sold on the Droid, either verison.

I want to be able to tether my new phone to my computer for traveling. Syncing to Outlook is a must! Need to be able to easily turn off the phone (no sending or receiving phone calls or texts at work), but still need to access the calander and task list.

Any opinions?

I just got off the phone with a customer service rep from Verizon and debating after 10 years with them on making the switch. I've had a Storm since the day after the release date about this time last year. About a month ago I started to have problems with the phone not recieving phone calls and I mean no trace of a call. I work primarily from being dispatched by my cell phone, 24 hours a day. So after a phone call to c/s, 3 stores and 5 hours later I recieved an in store replacement unit since I needed this issue fixed right away. The same problem is happening with this device I recieved as a replacement. I just did the three store tour again, and was on the phone for over an hour. I'm eligible for an annual upgrade on the 23rd of this month, and willing to buy in store as soon as possible to fix this issue. The only answer I recieved was well you can try to go in store on the 23rd but you're actual upgrade date isn't until the 12th of December. What is wrong with Verizon, I mean I know they don't care about me personally as a customer but they should have some one that can say oh look, it's only 2 days, we will go ahead and move that for you so you can upgrade and get yourself out of this problem you're having.

I work in customer service dealing with people not having heat at 2 a.m. and complaining about the costs of heating oil. I think I understand how things should work as far as pleasing a customer goes. At one point the man on the phone told me it may be wise for me to switch carriers. I'm not 100% positive on this, but I do believe that every customer is valuable to a certain extent no matter how much money you recieve from them on any basis. He also stated that he understands my problem and that I should expect my phone to work for me at all times if I have service. If that's true, wouldn't I be getting a new phone instead of, call back on another line so we can try more procedures. What if someone was in his cubicle and he couldn't work, I wonder how he would feel knowing that he's losing money not work. Damn this world is full of idiots, it's not like I asked for a free phone. All I wanted was to upgrade 2 days earlier in search of a solution to a major problem I'm having due to the fact that I can't make money with out my phone. I could go on forever, but I'll stop there.

basically what happen, was my "business account rep" brought me 16 phones...all with temporary numbers. he input the wrong plan into the system. (text message & data plans where never added) he assured me that after the porting the numbers everything would be ok. It was not ok.... i get my first bill $1300, no credits, wrong plan. ( i was promised $1600 in credits to change from sprint to verizon) He was "trying to correct the problem" and 2 weeks later i ended up calling customer service, dealing with 2-3 people, finally got to a supervisor and he corrected the problem.

I specifically told that supervisor and my sales rep....If i incur overages, i will be calling back and it wont be to fix my problems, it will be to cancel. I get my second bill...$1300 bill + a little over $800 in overages..... been dealing with customer service, my sales rep, his supervisor, and a store manager for a week. Its friday and no one has fixed my problem. She tried to assure me my billing issues would get fixed and she would do her best to keep me as a customer..... too late. 45 days and i have to move up the chain to get my issues fixed. I told her i expect my issue fixed by today, im not waiting till "my next billing cycle". If she cant do that, then ill just go right above her head to her boss.

Monday rolled around and i delt with the "supervisors" boss. they corrected the problem with my overages, and continued to try and keep me as a customer. She specifically said "i believe in teaching my employees, and holding them accountable for their actions" I stopped her right there and said exactly. You maintain the lifeline of my company. 16 lines of service may not compare to the millions of customers you have....but i have 1 wireless provider. after 45 days of the worst experience with a provider who promised me "smooth" transition, I now hold Verizon accountable for the poor customer service i received.

Monday at&t is coming to give me all new phones.

Hi:

My wife and I moved from AT&T (I had an iPhone, she a Treo) and purchased Tours a few months ago.

I'm thoroughly unhappy with my Tour, and I'm thinking about canceling my line on our family plan early and moving back to AT&T to get a new iPhone. If I did, I would likely try to unload my Tour on eBay (it's in perfect working condition, with some minor scrapes on the back from when it slid out of my backpack on our driveway). I understand that a clean ESN is a must when selling the phone, but I'm confused as to how an early termination would affect that.

If I cancel my contract early, will they release the ESN? What do I have to do to make that happen? I'm not sure I understand the process, and I'd like to make sure I understand it before I make a decision. Can anyone help? Thanks!
