Walked into a coffee shop and saw a guy I know works at a local verizon store. I asked him about the 10.1 update and he pulled his Z10 out and said "I wish". Said we might not even get it as verizon does not want blackberry to be successful or the people happy. They want them to be frustrated and move to phones verizon can make real money at. Said he got serious crap for getting a Z10 and was told not to show it off and to have either an iphone or android device on him for people to see. He said he loves his Z10 and hopes he is wrong but if we do see the update it won't be for quite a while and virtually everything you here from verizon is a lie. Says he hates the company and their policies toward keeping customers happy and giving the customer what they want. He said do not for any reason believe the verizon phone guys when they say they have no info or don't know. Most read all the phone sites. Also seems the verizon chat feature is down. Guess they are updating their scripts. And no I won't disclose what store or area he works at. He is on our side.

I know what the user was told isn't true, but I'm fed up and need to vent a bit (and sent an email to our corporate rep).

A user of mine was at a corporate Verizon store in a major area mall and was told that Verizon was not going to release the Q10 as the Z10 has been a "complete failure" and that every Z10 that store sold was returned. Now, I can't say for sure that the second item is incorrect, and there's no context (how many were sold) but of course we really knew even before today that the Q10 would be on the network. I do find it hard to believe that every single Z10 was returned from that store unless they only sold a handful.

I've heard some doozies from various reps of companies, but this is getting ridiculous.

How soon after they release the Q10 do you think Verizon will discontinue the Bold? I looks like the Curve has already been discontinued.

The reason I ask is my work provides me with a Blackberry (currently a Curve).

I have been due for an upgrade for 6 months or so but I'm waiting until I'm sure I will get a BB10 device. Z10, Q10, R10, it don't matter as long as it has 4G.

We don't get to pick our device, we just get whatever my companies default is at the time. Right now whenever someone at work gets a new phone its a Bold.

Hey there, recently got my z10 from verizon. I understand the verizon network is cdma based, but i would like to know if it is possible to get the phone to work on a gsm network. For example i would like to travel to mexico and pop in a telcel sim card. Is that possible or would i have to be looking into unlocking the device? Thanks!

What are the options for keeping an old Phone?

I am a Verizon customer and I have had a 9650 for almost two years. I am wondering what my options are once my contract is up. I am thinking about either keeping my old phone or just discontinuing it completely after my contract is up.

1. I actually would want to keep my old phone for now - it has everything I really need (I know, I'm a dinosaur). Can I continue keeping my old phone if I want and would I need a new contract for that? I have heard that once your contract is up, you can pay month-by-month. But would my old phone still be subscribed to the Blackberry services our would I need a new contract? I am really clueless about how things work as far as contracts and options. Can I save money if I am allowed to keep my old phone (since the phone's price was included in the contract and I would be keeping it beyond two years.). Again, I am very clueless about these things.

2. What if I decide I don't want a phone any more. Once my contract is up, I assume the phone will stop working and I won't get billed. Do I have to do anything or sign something if I should decide to end my phone use once my contract is up? Or does everything automatically end and that is that and I don't have to do anything?

3. What if I discontinue my Verizon service but suppose six months from now I change my mind? What if I am incredibly cheap and want to re-institute phone service using my old 9650. Would that be allowed or would my only option be to buy a new phone?

I sucked it up. Abandoned my 9930 and its clunky spacebar, and I'm tasting BB touchscreen again.

Unfortunately, the experience was dreadful.

I couldn't find it right away. I'll admit it was on display with a big banner on the wall above it, but it wasn't the first place to look. Strangely, older BlackBerry models were on a setup right when you walk in the door. The Z10 was hang'n out with a few Droids over in the corner.

So, great! There it is. Lets put it in my hands!

Uhhh.... no. It was strapped to a security cord. A plastic tie went all the way around the center of the damn thing. I eventually, after a few painfully failed attempts, was able to unlock the screen. Still didn't matter much though. If you want to actually put it in your hands and type, good luck. I'd be surprised if anyone was patient enough to unlock it in the first place.

This is not going to sell that phone to anyone to doesn't know they want it before they go into the store!

It seemed as though very few people actually have bought one. The sales associates had no experience activating the device! At one point, the lady had to go into the back room for nearly 10 minutes. The phone was set up when she came back.

On a positive note, I showed off the phone today with 2 friends who carry iphones. They were both impressed. I believe 1 of the 2 would actually switch to the Z10.

On a personal note, I'm loving the phone so far. I'm not thrilled with the battery life after day 1, but its day 1. I'm probably not efficient enough yet. I definitely miss the keyboard, but I felt this way when I switched from a Curve to the Storm 1 & 2.

I'm on the fence. I can suck up the $35 restocking fee, return the Z10, upgrade to the Q10 instead, plus the $50 difference = I'm out $85 bucks to end up with the Q10. Is it worth it? I have some time to decide...

I spoke on the phone with Verizon today. It was due to my frustration with receiving a notification that 10.0.10 was available, but in reality it was a 1mb application update. The woman I spoke to said that it is blackberry's fault that I haven't received the upgrade and Verizon does not push ota updates. I call BS there!! Typical Verizon to blame others for their unruly procrastination.

I received an email today from Verizon that listed three mobile applications and 20 in this link:

20 Must-Have Apps | Verizon Wireless...

I received an email today from Verizon that listed three mobile applications and 20 in this link:

20 Must-Have Apps | Verizon Wireless

The email listed Evernote and Dropbox, both of which I know have BlackBerry versions but they only provided links to Android and iPhone versions. The email also showed Endomondo, eBay, Jetpack Joyride, Pandora and 8Tracks the same way. That is what bothered me. Why were BlackBerry versions not linked?

Sure, I know programs don't have BlackBerry versions (not the point of this post) but conversely, there are BlackBerry programs not available on Android or iOS.

Does anyone have a contact at Verizon to bring this to their attention? The change to add BlackBerry version links when appropriate would be relatively modest because from the perspective of that page, it looks like BlackBerry doesn't even exist.

(And I'm sorry, as a software developer myself, I don't like the term 'app'. Even Windows 8 calls PhotoShop and Excel and 'app'.)
