I got it and it was already flashed.
Well, it works as far as calling and text, but I can't get internet working.
From what I can tell, the internet isn't working because it's not set properly.
Anyone know how to set it up? Dx

Ok, I'm editing this for simplicity.
I don't care about features.
I just want to be able to browse the web, and I have Cricket.
I know it can be done, I've seen people all over the internet with that much, and that's all I want.
Can someone please tell me how I can do this?

My Verizon 8830WE had been working just fine and then I added several apps. Seemed OK until I turned it off. When I turned it on again it eventually came back with a desktop but froze almost immediately when I attempted to use any of the standard applications. So I removed the new apps and again it seems to be working fine. In the interim, I added a 2GB SD card. At the moment, it's showing 10.2 MB free plus 1.8 GB on the card. I'd like to reload several of the applications but need to now what measures should be taken to make sure the phone doesn't go back into freeze mode again. Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi All,
Totally new to Blackberry. Received my 8830 today and have activated it. I tried to do my due diligence preparing for it. I've read through most of the Blackberry 101 tutorials and even saved some of the forums posts that I thought might come in handy as I get accustomed to the 8830. The phone was new-in-box, not refurbished (to the best of my knowledge). I've set up my BIS and data services are active and On, according to the phone.
My problem seems to be with Desktop Manager. Since the phone is new to me, I thought it would go ahead and upgrade to the new 4.5 OS. However, my DM is not recognizing the unit as connected to my computer. I truly hope it's not something really stupid that I've overlooked...
I downloaded the most recent version of Desktop Manager. The phone "lights up" when I connect it via usb, but it is not "recognized". I would hope it's not a phone mini usb issue, as it's brand new, but I realize that might be a possibility. With the newest version of DM, I assume my drivers are up to par as well.
Any idea on what I can try/do to get DM to recognize my phone's connection? Or to upgrade OS without DM (although, I don't see any mention of that)?
I truly hope I have not posted this in ignorance...for once, I tried being prepared!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

got a used 8830WE on ebay. works great, except clicking the trackball doesnt always select, so I have gotten used to using the enter key. No biggie, wanted a BB while I wait to upgrade to the Storm 2 or Tour 2 (thats a seperate post, cant decide!) Anyway, a couple times, while carrying the phone in my pocket, I would take it out and notice it was randomly opneing new SMS messages and email messages, watching the screen, it looked like a macro was running..it was bezerk! Problem escalated last night. 4:30am, my mother called to ask what was wrong. Seems my phone, which was charging on my night stand had started calling her number at 4am. it made 4 calls before i pulled eh battery. Interestingly, when I fully woke up later, none of those calls showed up in the call log, but checking her caller ID, sure enough it did. Tonight while talking to someone, the pone just started randomly muting and unmuting the call...I couldnt stop it!

Anyone else have this problem? All I did since getting the phone was upgrade to newest OS 4.5.0.138

Im a BB Newbie..is it possible to get a virus? Its behaving like a PC thats infected.

Hi all,

I recently picked up an 8GB mini card for my phone, to load a fair amount of music onto to use as an MP3 player, rather than keep reloading my 1GB Sansa.

I have some tunes on it, but have a couple questions. First, I downloaded and installed the Desktop Media Sync thing, and it will not work. In the last couple weeks, I have had to do 2 or 3 battery pulls because my volume dissappeared, ringers, music, everything. Once I pull, it comes back.
Is that related to something with the card or the media manager?

And, the whole Mass Media Mode. What is the best setting for carrying music? the manual isnt really clear on it. I dont even know if MMM is for the card, or the phone outright..

Thanks, if it hasnt already been up, Otterbox is clearing out cases with clips, silicones, and case for 24 plus shipping. Just bought a black one to look all stealthy.

Guys in the know,

Need some help. I recently purchased the new Bold 9700 and want to use it in place of my company issued 8830WE that is on the BES system. I am on the Telus network.

How do I go about making this change? The following is what I believe is the correct process. Can someone please verify?

1) Ask Telus to change the ESN from the 8830 to the 9700 so that voice (i.e. phone calls) now go to the new 9700.

2) Use the device change/swap feature in desktop manager to move all data from 8830 to 9700.

My question is, will desktop manager swap out the BES connection as well so that I can get my corporate emails on the new device? (Obviously I will be connected to the network when doing this)

OR, will I need to manually enter a password (which I get from IT). I recalled when the dealer provided me with a replacement hardware it was connected to the BES right away when I synced with DM.

The kicker in all this is that since the 9700 is so new, it's not a so called supported device yet... so IT says. I don't think the hardware is any less secure than the current Tour model they are supporting.

In a nutshell, will my swap work and can it be done smoothly.

Thanks in advance
