Well I got my pearl 8100 today in the mail, bought it off ebay for a pretty good price and it was brand new, anyways I didn't notice until later today but on the ad it says it can't be registered on blackberry service, I noticed this after I paid $80 for a full month of everything including the data plan... has anyone seen or heard of anything like this before? On the phone itself under the status settings it has a different PIN and IMEI number than what is under the battery, also when I try to register it on blackberry it says the phone is suspended to deactivated... Help please.

hey good day to all,
today I have been using my phone, as much as
I would normally do. I have been affected by the 523 application error for some time but never paid any mind to it as it stopped after i deleted a couple unnecessary applications. But today my black berry pearl 8100, battery was low so I decided to plug it into a computer via usb at my school which has a 220 power supply. The phone locked off and showed a dim blue light and then suddenly shut off, I quickly pulled the usb cord out where the metal fitting that goes into the phone was burning hot. What exactly has happened to my phone? It doesn't respond in any way to usb connection nor its charger, already tried a different battery from another pearl... nothing happens

* File name: 8100M_PBr4.5.0_rel302_PL2.7.0.105_A4.5.0.180_Vodaf one_UK.exe
* File size: 93.58MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download

This download is from Vodafone UK but will work on ANY carrier's 8100 model BB. (Not 8110, 8120 or 8130)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded. (Vista users be sure to right click on the .exe file and select "Run As Administrator.")
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

I have a Blackberry 8330 Curve with Verizon...and have the internet usage plan and everything, and have hooked my Blackberry up to my Destop Manager several times to sync it and back it up, etc. My boyfriend has a Pearl, with no internet service, just regular phone service, and uses a different carrier...T-Mobile. But, he wants to back-up his phone. How would we do that? Do I just plug it in while Desktop Manager is up and running? I obviously don't want to sync his phone with my contacts, so I want to be sure we do this right. Can we transfer videos from his phone to our computer this way, too? HELP! I'm obviously not very good at all this!

I've got a very annoying problem.

I just removed & readded a Hotmail account from the myprovider.blackberry.com control panel.

Before I removed it (lesson f'in learned: ain't broke, don't fix it), email was syncing in the sense that when it was read on the phone, it appeared read on the web inbox. Now, after adding it again, after I read it on the phone, nothing happens on the web inbox!

When I added it the first time, it gave me an activation message about live's 90 day password change policy. After removing & readding, I get a message about "I need to go into my email client and choose "Leave messages on server" otherwise my emails may not sync" But I don't even use an email client!

So I tried a few more times of adding and readding, then I decided, Ok, I'll play ball. I installed an email client, and made those settings, readded the email a couple of times, AND THE SAME PROBLEM STILL!

I called my phone provider, they told me its a Hotmail problem. BS! I have another hotmail account on my phone that I never removed, and it syncs up JUST FINE! I have also tried adding other hotmail accounts, and they all have the same problem.

I don't want to call RIM support because you're charged for it.

What can I do? Please help me.

So I seem to have deleted my password keeper. I have a full backup courtesy of BB Desktop Manager for Mac.
When I go to Restore and click -Restore Selected Data it shows Password Keeper with a total of 21 records and password keeper options with 1 record. When I select them both and go to -Restore it says its restoring and then finishes.
If I then go to the applications icon at the top bringing me to install/remove apps, it doesn't show up there. Same thing happens when I go to my phone, even after a battery pull.
What am I doing wrong? Its obviously there how do I get it BACK on my phone?
