I just started a new job and I'm getting a Tour 9630 that the company is paying for. I can port my existing cell number to this new Tour, but the company is insisting that I transfer liability of the number to them. I've asked and have been told that I can't get the number back if I leave the company.

So, my question is - do most people have 2 cells? One for personal use and another for business? It makes no sense to me to have to carry 2 cell phones everywhere I go. I've had my existing number for over 10 years and have used it personally and professionally - and it's my only phone - everyone calls me on it. My other company did not pay directly for my service, rather I would submit it on my expense report and be reimbursed. This is not an option at my new company. They will not reimburse you for cell service. I am required to have a phone and they will pay for it.

I don't know how I feel about losing my personal number should I leave the company - but I also don't want to have to carry around 2 phones.

Has anyone else faced this dilemma? Have you been successful in getting your number back if you left the company?

Thanks for any and all feedback.

I'm hoping this is the best / correct forums, but it may need to go into BES admins? Not really sure.

I just recently (yesterday) got a blackberry for my work e-mail (lotus notes is what we use here, I hate lotus notes with a passion but i'm stuck).

There are two things i'm trying to see if it's possible to change / fix etc.

First, when i send an e-mail from my PC notes installation it sync's the sent e-mail to my blackberry. Is there a way to stop this, or do I just need to set it as "hide sent items"

Second, Is it supposed to sync properly for read / unread items when I open an e-mail in my notes installation on my desktop? Example I received an e-mail, Opened it, replied, and filed it in a folder to save. My blackberry however 10 minutes later was still blinking showing a new e-mail. I know if I read on berry, it marks it read in notes, but does it / is it supposed to go the other way as well??

Hi can any one help me with this one?

We want to use BES to manage our own IT settings and policies etc - ie a hosted solution for cost - but also maintain our BIS service from Orange - so we dont need to use an exchange server - so the basic question is can you use BES for pure management purposes without linking to an exchange server? this would mean combining BES and BIS together?

Thanks in Advance!

Changing Display Name On OWA Integrated BIS Account

Hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction with a display name problem...

I always used to be able to log into my carrier's BIS website and edit the display name in my OWA e-mail account.

The display name field is no longer available in BIS 2.8 (for OWA accounts) and e-mails that I send from my BlackBerry are just showing my e-mail address and not my name.

I've spoken to my carrier and to RIM and they advise that BIS should be pulling the display name that's set up on my SBS 2003 server but it's not doing for some reason. Any messages that I send direct from OWA are showing my name and e-mail address so I'm sure things are set up correctly on the server.

Any suggestions on how I can resolve this problem or is this functionality that RIM are planning to add back to BIS?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks
