First off let me explain what I'm doing here. Well obviously we all know the shortage of apps in the quantity in the store right? Well i will simply help you out and tell you how they run and if they are really worth paying the sum you are charged on the app store.

Well the way the review will work is i will test the app out for couple of hours and get to know exactly how it works and the issues it has. hopefully this will allow you to decide if you want to purchase the latest app or wait to find a alternative.

Well here we go :)

Backbreaker 2 Vengeance

Description
The million-selling backbreaker football is back with a vengeance and this time you tackle! backbreaker 2 again raises the bar for graphics physical animation and pure fun. you spoke we listened: tackling , trucking , jumping = its all here ! take down the ball carrier in vengeance mode or fight your way to the endzone in the classic tackle alley mode. whatever you do this is the best backbreaker yet so enjoy the ride.
Graphics
Having not previously playing backbreaker games i feel it would be uncalled for to compare the graphics of the past versions of this game so what i have done is compare the graphics of this game to other American football games i have played such as Madden 12 on the playbook.

The overall presentation of the game is okay i suppose its very basic in terms of the menu you have the moving background which is a cool thing but you wont spend to much time on the menu anyway. The game play itself is of good standard although when looking at the crowd you will see a lot of frames are dropped either that or the whole crowd seems to move in a very slow manner and glitch matter at that. If you ignore that the game play is flawless you will not be disappointed when you go in for that crushing tackle you will see the body fly though the air and not just fall to the ground , the impact is easily seen adding to the effect of the game.

For graphics taking into account the crowd i would have to give this a solid 4 out of 5.

Game Modes

I understand the whole concept behind this game is that you are to get that crunching tackle in on the opponent or avoid them for as long as possible and that is all well and fine but you can either do this is Endurance or Challenge mode. Endurance is more towards you avoiding the challenge and after playing seems to lose its charm after a couple of goes and is quite a tedious task to complete all Levels (if you can after playing 4-5 levels i got rather bored i decided not to continue). However with the Challenge mode you seem to have two sub sections within and they are ''Tackle Alley'' and 'Vengeance'' The idea behind them both is similar to Endurance mode well ''Tackle Alley'' is you have to beat the defenders to score a touchdown so you are enforced with the task of running past defence and getting that touchdown for your team. Well in the ''Vengeance'' you have to fight you way though to challenge the ball carrier. so you take the role of the defence and enjoy jumping in to those hard and crunching tackles. Both modes have 10 separate challenges in them and to get towards the tenth level it is quite a task you will not just fly through all the levels you may get past the first 2-3 but after that the challenge begins and there your time will be spent trying to beat the game.

For the different game modes you have to admire what they tried to do by giving sub sections in the challenge mode but i have to say although challenging you will find the game seems very repetitive and that may be a good or bad thing depending the type of person you are and if you enjoy smashing or avoiding defence.

3 out of 5 due to the points i mentioned such as being repetitive.

Speed

In all game modes the waiting times are perfect and are extremely quick there is no delay when scrolling the menus so speed will be no issue. speed int he game is relatively as i have said with the graphics being of decent grade you will enjoy the game as you will only see dropped frames from the crowd itself.

5 out of 5 for the speed there is no waiting time and if it is there is 2-3 seconds of it making it the ideal game for quick bus or car journeys.

Overall

Would i recommend this app ? Hell yeah if your a American football fan (I say this as a Brit football here is totally different to over the pond) for the small price of £2.00 Or in the UK you can't go wrong and I mean that its worth giving it a go. Honestly most apps are around this price anyway and for football fans this is a must have.

Guys thanks for reading and if you have any advice or things to say please don't hesitate to ask :)

Fellow PlayBook users,

Out of need for finding a decent browser on PlayBook, I ended up making one myself. :)

The browser is aimed to be lightweight, yet flexible to meet varying users' needs as its name suggests.

It is far from being complete. However, for some that are growing tired of the default browser, this may be a good alternative.

It features:

True tab browsing experience (Chrome like UI)

Orientation support

Ad-blocking (host filtering + element hiding) (try out southpark.com ;))

Gesture support

Loading progress indicator (flashes when done)

Google suggest integration

Tab specific features on/off (Toggle: Ad-block, Desktop mode, Private browsing, Booster mode, etc. on the fly)

Fullscreen support

Keep screen on (useful when using on kitchen countertop)

Scroll pad (good ol' BB9900)

Has anyone used this App? I find no instructions whatsoever.
I tried to create a isometric wire frame drawing of a U-shaped bracket using both the freehand tool as well as the line tool but the problem is there is no snap to point when creating a new line, so corners are disjointed. Also there appears to be no scalability to zoom out.

These are just two basic operations. Your input please.

PlayBook App Circus - now 100 app reviews and new interview

Hi everyone! I would like to introduce you to my blog PlayBook App Circus. (http://www.playbookappcircus.com) I started this blog only 2 months ago...

Hi everyone! I would like to introduce you to my blog PlayBook App Circus. I started this blog only 2 months ago and I am proud to announce that there are now 100 mini-reviews of PlayBook quality apps available for your reading pleasure at the PlayBook App Circus.

A lot of stuff happened since the launch. Originally, this was done as a simple Tumblr blog that I created because I felt that there was a need for PlayBook app reviews. I have seen many threads here at crackberry.com where users who just got their new bargain PlayBook asked the community for app recommendations. So, I had the idea to create a blog where I would recommend great apps and write some mini-reviews including a link to the Blackberry world. I thought that it might be helpful and convenient for PlayBook novices, too.

Since the last month, users from 52 countries were visiting my blog and each day there are 30-70 unique visitors checking my reviews. More and more Tumblr users start to follow the PlayBook App Circus, too. So thanks everyone so much - it really keeps me motivated.

Recently I also added categories so that you can easier find the app you are looking for. Also, the PlayBook App Circus will spotlight some great app developers. Our first interview with BumbleBee Computing (developers of Fast Browser) seemed to be very interesting to the community (read it here). Now, we got another one. This time with Gabor Novak, developer of "Advanced Camera" (read it here). More interviews are in the pipeline.

So, thanx everyone for following and reading my blog. It keeps me motivated. :)

Hey all!
Just to let you know I have updated my app Net Shares File Explorer.
This is an app to browse your network shared drives (SAMBA) and copy files between them and your local device. Works both on Playbook and BB10.
This is an Android app, not a native one.

And now, beside copying files, you can just watch your videos and listen to your favorite music without having to copy the files, just streaming them. You have also de option to play all media files in a folder, i.e. music :)
Hope you find it useful, I've been looking for this for a long time.

Browsing shared drives:

Streaming a movie:
Size: 29.0 KB">IMG_00000220.jpg

Hope you find it useful :)
As this is the first release with media player there might be issues to fix and many improvements, just tell me !
It's basic by now, play/pause/seek, nex/previous (when playing all).

Thanks!

Hey there guys.
This is my attemt to make a user friendly nes emulator. It was intended to be published in app world but got banned  so I finally found time to make a website to publish. It's based on FCEUX but frontend rendering is done on pure OpenGL without SDL, sound is by OpenAL (still a bit glitchy though).
So take a look at playbook-nes.com. Source will be published later.

On desktop QNX you can run curl or wget to do this. I poked around the PB shell but curl/wget are missing. It's interesting that libcurl is in the NDK and in the OS as well. Anyone had luck with compiling and running either program on PB?
