So far I have kept my new unit away from magnetic holsters. Would using a magnetic holster permanently degrade my magnetometer, or would it just require recalibration?

My sister in laws phone seemed to sorta nuke itself.

The red light would come one and then it would reboot, and hour glass would show up for a bit and then restart. The process would continue to happen over and over again.

I "repaired" the phone using the blackberry desktop manager and it i was able to access all the pictures and files on the phone once it was finished but the screen would not come one.. You could see the back light was which is strange so i factory reset it with jl_cmder.

Screen still blank.

So i gave up for a day or two and tried plugging it into my computer... strangely the battery symbol was showing on the screen.. wierd... Put it on another charger to charge it up.. and nothing will show on the screen.

I thought the screen was defective but since the batter was showing on the screen its not broken per say... Charging the phone completely and turning it on allows it to boot but the screen never comes back. I could hear the bb video play on the first boot up after the wipe.

Any thoughts?

No water damage etc that is visible.

Howdy,

I'm so excited, as my 9810 arrived yesterday afternoon! Last night I attempted to download a blackberry application (Battery saver, IIRC) and encountered difficulty when Blackberry asked for a username and password. For username it asked for my email addres; ok, no problem-thanks to that nifty QWERTY keypad! But whenever I typed in a password it comes back telling that it's invalid.
I've tried hyphens, numbers, capitol letters, but it always comes back saying:
"The username and password provided do not correspond to a valid Blackberry ID". Please help, as I've already consumed 5/10 alloted tries with this..:o

So i've recently fixed my blackberry after the screen was cracked. Keeping that parts in a non-humid, safe enviroment. After putting the phone back togther, I decided to put it on the charger. I know for a fact that my phone shouldve turned on but fter 15 minutes it didnt and so I decided to diagnose the issue.

It turns out that its nuked. Ok then, this should be a simple restoration process but everytime in apploader it reaches the stage "Waiting for device initialization", the bb keeps restarting and stopping without any indication of activity on the screen. After a few minutes, Apploader pops up with a message stating to retry or cancel the opperation.

The device is recognised BEFORE starting the procedure in apploader but that is it. IT carries out the frist stage of restoration and then it results in a brick wall and all back to square 1.

My pc is windows 8 64bit with the latest desktop manager (FYI: voided warrenty)

So what else can i try, might as well take any risk! I've tried the jl_cmder and BBSAK but they dont work because the device isnt recognised. is there a key combinaion to enter a recover mode or something...

ANY HELP??

Help Guys!
I don't ask often but this one is befuddling to me! (Now that's a word)!
Ok--problem: a couple of weeks ago my wife had her 9810 stolen and thankfully it was encrypted and password locked so whoever got it can only use it for parts but can't get to our information. That incident got me thinking that I should do the same as I have a lot of business and banking info on my phone that I use daily.

The first thing I did was move all the info to the device from the SD card and then proceeded to encrypt it and password protect it. No problems and it works like its supposed to.

But due to a family emergency where I needed to have the phone on all night in case of a text message coming in, and not wanting to try and type in a password at 3am when half asleep, I decided to disable it for the evening.

Now comes the problem!
I went to options>security>password and the check box Would NOT let me uncheck it. I tried to maybe change the password but that wouldn't work either so I escaped from that effort. The check box is kind of grayed out and will not allow it to be disabled. I look on other threads but they are so long ago that the options are not the same for the 8xxx series phones where you could go to "Password" and supposidly change it. I also looked in the user guide (yes I downloaded the pdf when I got the phone) but it simply says to disable, UNCHECK THE BOX! LOL

So I hope that one of you gurus out there will have an idea, or I am stuck with it like it is until the Q10 comes around-LOL. I'm sure its something minor but I have no idea what--I know OS's but not password protections-so any help is so, so appreciated! Thank you! Go1ndr

UPDATE: Figured it out. You must disable the encryption first (including the media card which I hadn't done) before you can disable the password on that option. Makes sense now and I'll leave this thread on here in case some one else has this issue.
Mods: if you want to remove it and feel its not needed, no problem and thanks!

so I jumped shipped to Android about 6 months ago (got tired of OS 7) and now my Galaxy's screen decided to go blank. Well anyway, I have a lot of contacts that I've added since I switched and they are all synced to my google account. Now I plan on buying and HTC one in the upcoming weeks (once att releases the black model), but I want to be able to get these contacts onto my blackberry. Since I dont have a data connection going to the blackberry currently, since I dont want to deal with having my bill being prorated twice (switching to BB plan, then back to android), how can I get these google contacts to my berry?

Howdy,

This Summer (well, beginning the Memorial day weekend, actually and going through the end of July), I'm spending my vacation (I'm a teacher) as a traveling salesman. I'll need to upgrade to a "modern" cellphone and that means Blackberry! I'll need internet service to navigate and a physical keypad for when the need arises. I've never owned a modern cellphone that did anything besides operate as a phone: no internet or texting.

I'm interested in the Torch 9810 for $20 from AT&T online. My wife had the 9800 version, IIRC and it's keypad croaked after some 6 months, btw. Still, I trust Balckberry. Can I rely on the 9810 for the Summer? It seems to offer what I want/need for business: large screen, physical keypad and Blackberry's good reputation. I welcome all informed opinions.

PS: I've read some reviews of the 9810 wherein many owners complain about it "freezing". Anyone?

Good day

I have a slight problem with my blackberry that perhaps one of you knowledgable people can help or give me some insight. I have set up my email on my phone. Its an outlook/microsoft one. I have several other email addresses whose emails all get forwarded to my outlook email. My question is this. Can i reply to an email from an alias. In most cases i dont want to use the "father" email address that i have set up. I just use it to consolidate my emaisl from outlook as well as gmail email adresses. Suppose an email come in from one of my other email address and i want to reply/respond back, can I do so from my blackberry (with it using the alias that the email was sent to and NOT my "father" email address that i have set up on my BB)?

2nd Question is regarding email attachments. Off late i have started emailing more often from my BB and usually want to attach files. But i cant send say 4 attachments together, I always get the error general failure after the upload is done. However sending those files individually works fine. the files i'm trying to send are about 1mb each and some are .pdf and others .png image files. is this network restricted or if the native email client cant attach several files in one go which other app does?
