I have a BlackBerry 6 device without any SIM card. It used to have a full BIS plan, but I switched to another device. Then I out in a SIM card without any BIS plan on it for a few days after the initial BIS plan from the first SIM card ends. Now it's SIMless

I figured I could still use it with WiFi to force my favorite site to stay on mobile mode, but for some reason, although it's connected to the WiFi the browser says 'unable to connect'. I checked the Service Books and the WiFi service books says: "no gateway"

Can I do something about this?

I first posted this in the Blackberry Bold 9700 board, but I think it might be a good idea to have it here too. Anyway. One day last week I awoke and picked up my 9700 to discover that one of my text message feeds was gone. Everything else was absolutely fine, except all my text messages to and from one person were gone. I do regular backups, so I didn't *lose* any data, but I was travelling when the issue happened so I was unable to restore promptly. Now I am left with having new messages now, but I still need to restore the text messages to this person onto the device. This is really important to me. I know it sounds dumb, but I really need these messages on my phone.

Is there a way to restore them without erasing all the messages I've exchanged over the past week? It's a Bold 9700 on OS6.

Hi all,

I wonder if you can assist with a perplexing issue.

I am having a major issue with Accuweather on a Blackberry Curve 9300. when I install it and open it it simply never connects and I have noticed that my BIS service (blackberry logo next to the 3G notification) seems to disappear at the same time. Once Accuweather is closed down, my BIS service(logo) returns.
I have tried the following:
Upgraded my SIM card.
Uninstalling and reinstalling Accuweather.
Done a factory reset (loader.exe /resettofactory) on the blackberry and reloaded the OS6 firmware (6.0.0.749) for the phone and then reinstalled Accuweather.

Nothing helps, it does the same thing every time.. Please note that this is a brand new phone and all other services, such as email etc. work flawlessly. My husband has an identical phone with the same OS 6 and the same upgraded SIM card and Accuweather works fine on his phone.

Any assistance in this regard would be really appreciated.

Thanking you,
Gail de Wet.
