Kevin's rant the other day on the lack of keyboard speed dial shortcuts was awesome! There was a thread previously on how "CB is BBs worst enemy". While the wordings were extreme, the OP I believe wanted the CB team to be a little more critical of BB than they had until now for the sake of the platform and its users. There were a lot of ppl who were offended with the remark, and yet there were a few who believed genuinely that CB can only help the BB community by being so. In fact, Kevin himself made an attempt to defend himself.

The CB team and Kevin must've understood the point of view however as he published the following post soon after:
Brainstorming BB10

Quote:

"Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things." - Winston Churchill

Kudos to Kevin and the CB team for taking the criticism in the right spirit. The Rant by Kevin wasn't exhaustive as I would've hoped (as the post was confined to speed dial KB shortcuts I suppose) but it was in the right direction. For the sake of progress to the things we all love, let the Rants keep going. Maybe there should be a dedicated section on CB called "Kevin's Rants" or something like that where he gives constructive criticism on all things that need improvement. He could have it weekly. And preferably in the forums' section as others can contribute and have a discussion, and with the more "likes" and "thanks" from others to an individual post, we and the team at BB will know what's really important.

To the rest of the CB community,

Loyalty can help the platform's growth through support AND constructive criticism, but I am afraid
Fanboism can only bring its downfall. I just hope we all know the difference between the two.

Quote:

“Begin challenging your own assumptions. Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in awhile, or the light won't come in.” - Alan Alda, Author/Actor

Hope the BB team understands that in the long run, BB will remain successful if it's first and foremost "a productivity device". That is how I've always looked at BB and that is how I'd expect BB10 to be. And for that, they need to use the Keyboard efficiently (All keyboard shortcuts including the ones for copy/cut/paste and more need to come back). - Personal View.

Even loyalty works only until rewarded well. If BB for instance were to keep leaving all the OS 7 features that I like off the BB10 platform or take too long a time, I (personally) would perhaps leave sooner or later.

Look, if I keep telling myself that I'll keep supporting for the sake of loyalty whether I'm getting rewarded or not, I'll just be a blind fanboy.

coming back to my earlier point - Awesome Rant Kev. More please! :) Perhaps "Kevin's Rants - Part 2"

BB FTW!

Hi guys.
Sorry for the dramatic title. But you have to know about it. Fast.
Those (new ?) popping ads windows are so invasive that I think it's suicide.
It's boring, they pop on each and every page (logged or not).
More, they make the browsing experience on Z10 anr furthermore on Q10 very, very uncomfortable (on Q10 it's almost un-doable).

I really believe this kind of technique is outdated. Please, liberate us from this.

The new site format only seems to have podcasts and "vodcasts" as Youtube videos. Can you please provide downloadable audio and video files and rss feeds for the files as well as was done before. I've got Podtrapper on my 8900 and I don't get any of the new podcasts. Videos are nice, but so is having the audio to listen to when driving. Please bring back this feature!

In my opinion a "like" is something you should use when you agree with the post, and then you avoid posting the same thing or posting a 2 word reply...

In my opinion a "like" is something you should use when you agree with the post, and then you avoid posting the same thing or posting a 2 word reply like "yeah". Just click the "Like" button and move on.

A "Thank" is when someone posts new information that is helpful or breaking news, it's like a "super-like". You not only agree with the poster (or you may NOT agree but are glad the poster posted) but you are thankful that they took the time to post (either because they helped you or someone else, or made an overall positive contribution to the community).

"Thank" and "Like" have the power to make sure that your opinion is known and saves everyone else the time of having to bother with a "+1" reply or something... I know this isn't set in stone, but I searched and didn't find easily accessible "Thank" and "Like" guidelines so I posted this for easy searchability. If there is a post that explains how Thank or Like should optimally be used, it didn't turn up when I searched on "thank" or "like" or "thank like".

Dear CB Moderators~
So, if I try to post anything with what is considered "nasty" language, I have noticed that little * appear in place of the letters.
Yet I have started to avoid the forums here on CB as I see others talking "dirty" all the time.
I am tired of reading "fanboi", "troll", and all other nasty, disrespectful, and insulting language here on the forums.
Why don't we add some * to those words also?
IMHO
Move the thread if it is in the wrong place, but I felt the Z10 forum was correct as this seems to be where I see that language thrown around freely.

Is there a bad attitude with regard to reposts on this forum?

Although this isn't something that has ever been directed towards me, I've noticed that when someone posts a question which has already been...

Although this isn't something that has ever been directed towards me, I've noticed that when someone posts a question which has already been discussed, they get responses which are condescending or downright rude. There's nothing wrong with posting a link to the relevant thread but a lot of users do not appreciate the condescending or aggressive attitude that frequently comes along with it.

The problem is that a lot of users, perhaps even the majority are using the CB app, which does not have a decent search function built in. Consequently even if users are searching for the relevant thread before making a new one, they can't find it.

Therefore I think there are two ways this forum can go

1. Crackberry can fix the CB apps so that when you search forums it uses google and brings up the relevant thread, like the 'search crackberry' field at the top of the desktop version does

2. Everyone can just STOP complaining about reposts entirely. Drop the rude and condescending attitude. If someone makes a repost just link to the relevant thread and don't comment about it
