Well last week it started going crazy on me and I was out of town so I really needed a phone and some sort of GPS so I bit the bullet, gave up my unlimited data plan and grabbed an iPhone 4s.

First things first, the iPhone is a great device. A lot of bells and whistles, very smooth, easy to use (almost TOO easy to a fault). But it doesn't compare to BlackBerry when it comes to communication.

The first issue I had was a lack of a call blocker app. Where are all these endless apps for iOS? Most of them are BS apps that you'll delete literally 5 seconds after downloading them. Ads everywhere! I learned there may be an app like that but I have to jailbreak my phone. No problem, I've used hybrid OS's on BB, break out the how-to. Only I updated to the latest firmware so there is no jailbreak available yet. Sigh.

Next thing I noticed and this is a biggie. No push email! I'm used to my emails popping up on my screen (Berry Popup) instantly. With iPhone I have to go into the message app and refresh it manually to check emails. Or I can set it to check every 15 minutes.

Of course no BBM but that's not a big deal since most of my BBM friends went to other platforms.

But the email was HUGE for me. Since then, I've re-activated my Storm 2 and use the iPhone for what it was intended for... a toy. The cool thing about the iPhone is I can do basically everything for it over wifi. I can still FaceTime, make calls and send texts with google voice, get my email (although obviously not instantly), watch netflix, etc.

So now I have a real communication device and a glorified iPod touch.


I should have gotten a Z10.
