I am brand new to theme building and have only just downloaded themebuilder so I literally know nothing!! What I'd like to know is this: I have a theme that I used on my Curve 8330. I now have a Tour 8630. Is there a way to somehow reformat, using themebuilder, this 8330 theme for my 9630? Of course, if there is and someone is willing to do it for me that would be OK too!!

I wanted to share with you all how dumb I was using the new Theme Studio 5.0 !

When I first cranked the new Studio up, I just read my older Composer files into the new Composer and fed them to the new Theme Builder. Everything was cool. Then I tried to add new buttons using the new Composer on the old Composer files. Is no workie.

You cannot use the New Composer (NC) to modify files made by the Old Composer (OC) and expect the New Theme Builder to accept them (other than just passing them through without modification).

You CAN continue to use the OC to make changes and feed its files to the New Theme Builder.

To use the NC on an existing custom HomeScreen, carefully document your work and the location of all icon files and then delete everything and reload icon by icon., etc. Sounds bad, but most all your work is constructing the icon files anyway.

Below are some results of adding some new buttons to my Zen Tesla Theme.

Here are the Third Party module name I used in both the New and Old Composers:

BBM - net_rim_bb_qm_peer
VZNav - VZNavigator_v4_2_22_72_480x360t
Maps - net_rim_bb_lbs
Google Maps - GoogleMaps
BlackStar - BlackStar
Memos - net_rim_bb_memo_app
Camera - net_rim_bb_camera
Opera - operetteb$2dhifi
VideoCam - net_rim_bb_videorecorder
Messages - net_rim_bb_messaging_app
WF - WellsFargo41
Nasa - com_jfisher_webshortcut6_app
AWRadar - com_jfisher_webshortcut3_app
Spam - com_jfisher_webshortcut2_app
Mail - com_jfisher_webshortcut1_app
WSJ - WSJournal_470_en_app
Reuters - Reuters_470_en_app
Browser - net_rim_bb_browser_daemon
FMPro - FileManagerPro
Options - net_rim_bb_options_app

Invisible are two DAO icons: BerryWeather and a link to the skunk-works folder I call The CON. I need see if BW is better behaved now.

Notice how VZN sweetly coughed up their module name. Opera is still not working.

I am, obviously, using Theme Studios 5.0 and creating theme for the Storm. I already have a perfectly working animation (svg) on the Portrait Home Screen. Now when I put a second svg file on the Landscape Home Screen, the following issues occurred:

1)the portrait home screen animation icons sometime open, sometime not. And they behave erratically.
2)the TIME font blue highlight is shorten to a square instead of covering the whole font
3)the Storm started slowing down big time

The Landscape animation file was first created with the canvas size of 480x360 and this caused huge problems on the Portrait Home screen. I then created another svg with 360x480 for the Landscape Home Screen and this help a bit, but the Portrait Home Screen still does not work as expected.

Anyone run into this? Got any solutions to make the Landscape Home Screen animation work without causing problem for the Portrait Home Screen?

Did RIM even test this out? Can the phone handle two svg files in each Home Screen?

Thanks!

If I wanted to load the latest leaked version fo OS 5 (.230 I think it is) would my custom theme still work? Would I have to create it from scratch and if so how? I read that the theme builder 5.0 is for Storm2 and 9700 only.

I'm trying to make a simple theme so I can get pratice with landscape mode.

My question or my problem is, I make an SVG with 5 icons at the bottom for Home screen mode. Then I make an SVG also with 5 icons at the bottom for Landscape mode. Import them into TB5.0 like normal. Now when i load it to simulator or even my phone it has what I call a bleed through effect.

Basicly when my phone is in the Portriat view I can still click the screen where no icons are but it will open up the icons that are on the Landscape view with out me even turning the phone on it's side.

I hope I explained this well enough to get some advice. I have tried everything I know to do. Seems like it is a bug with TB5.0 or it could just be me.

If anyone else has seen this or knows the solution please let me know before I pull out all my hair.

A couple of theme issues I need help with :)

I am using Theme 5.0 and I am very new to BB. I have never worked on themes before. I have done a couple of themes and I have found some issues...

I am using Theme 5.0 and I am very new to BB. I have never worked on themes before. I have done a couple of themes and I have found some issues that I am curious about.

First, when changing themes on your device, is it normal for all of your hidden icons to show up again and have the icons pretty much default back to factory defaults? I noticed that when I switch to my themes, all of my third party apps end up in my download folder, Facebook and AIM end up back in the Instant Messaging folder, etc.. I normally place these on my home screen, so it's pretty annoying to have to completely reset everything everytime I change themes. Is there any way to change this?

Also, on the themes I made for OS 4.6 (I made a Bold 9000 and an 8900 theme), when I am in the menus, the font is all screwed up. I can see through it and it's almost like what is behind it is showing through making it very hard to read. I made a theme for OS 5.0 (Bold 9700) and this doesn't happen. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Heif

Alright.. First of all Hi!! :)

I searched the **** out of every possible site and search engine and still couldn't find the right answer for my problem. I don't really like to start a new thread for every itsy bitsy little question or problem I have but I had no choice :)

I'm currently trying to add hidden today features and a weather icon on a standard zen-type theme. I tried one using the builder and the weather app just stays too big and always has an icon frame which I don't like.

Then I tried making an SVG file and exporting it but then I ran into the problem of the weather icon being the first in the application list and showing up at both places in the home screen. (First on the dock and at the top)

My latest solution was to keep the theme buttons I put in the composer below the home screen and just assign their respectful order in the app screen. Now I have an invisible navigation system which is; scrolling down from the selected icon selects that same icon again and I don't see any highlights whatsoever on the home screen. BTW I added hidden today sections to some icons so if I stay on the icon even when it is scrolled down it still shows the hidden today area :)

If there is anybody generous about time and effort to explain a decent solution to me I would reeeeeeeally appriciate it, because I closed the composer last night with berserker screams and frothing mouth at the end! :D

Another simple-genius solution would be to make just one icon in the composer which would be the 7th or any other app on the order that I can use as a weather app and export it to the hidden today featured theme I made in the builder. (Seems extremely simple when I write it but trust me Kevin Michaluk's bold 9700 battery door struggle seems quite and peaceful compared to my rage) :)
