    Since now there is a big shake up in WhatsApp will #BBM be able to take advantage of the situation and make all their features on one to one chat be available to their group chat?

    I believe that if this ever happens it will be truly a competitor to WhatsApp. This is especially true now that #BBM can also use phone number to register & locate your friends.

    Not really sure what you are asking....

    Yes BlackBerry is always working to try and catch up to the competition.
    No they won't be able to take advantage of anything, as most of the people using WhatsApp now are communicating with non-BlackBerry users anyway..... people who have no need to "switch".

    The number of individually owned and regularly used BB10 phones that are not owned by enterprise... is probably around 3 million at this point and dropping as MOST of the BB10 sales where from three years ago.

    It's not really as much about the App, at this point... it's the userbase and where the people you want to talk to are at. If BB10 users are using WhatsApp right now... it's because they have friends that don't, or won't use BBM. Just don't see how that would change...

    Well we all know that WhatsApp will share our data with Facebook to enable them to market more relevant products to us. Not sure how that is going to be other than data mining our conversations.

    With that and there will be a lot of people who are concerned about having their conversations monitored. There will be people who would consider changing in view of this.

    The other reason is that there is a lot of people who are complaining about the hassles of using WhatsApp. There is a lot of maintenance work to be done for using WhatsApp. Things like deleting videos, pictures and so on, on a regular basis as it fills up the phone memory.

    The main reason why people prefer WhatsApp is because they use a phone number to identify the user. This is important as when someone installs WhatsApp they have contacts to talk to. Since now #BBM provide such a feature BBM can take advantage of this.

    All these inconvenience are avoidable by just using BBM. However #BBM is not up to par because the features they have on their Group chat is not as much as they have on their one to one chats.

    Will #BBM be able to allow ;
    1. Existing users to register their phone number on their BBM soon so that new users registering can connect with existing users?

    2. Users use all the same features in the one to one chat in their group chat? This will make BBM more features rich as compared to WhatsApp.

    If these are achieved, then these is a reason for existing users to tell their contacts that these is an option other than WhatsApp.
