If we lose our souls in the pursuit of things, what of lasting value have we gained? Is it worth losing the only thing that really matters?

When we step outside on a clear night, we can look up into the sky and see the vast and countless stars that fill the sky. If we focus on just one star, we begin to see many more around it and far beyond it in the distance. God tells us in His Word that the stars cannot be counted. They go on and on into the heavens and beyond to eternity. It is the same when we look at the bright blue sky on a clear day. We cannot see the end of it, past the sun and beyond. This is what God spoke into existence for us. These magnificent creations were formed by His almighty hands. Those who refuse to believe God have no excuse. His glory is plainly declared merely by looking upward.

Titus 1:15

�To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.�

We must not kid ourselves. Evil corrupts and leaves a residue that corrupts everything it touches, including the hearts of otherwise decent people. That's why we are urged to stay far away from evil and avoid its very appearance. That's also why Jesus died: to not only overcome the Evil One, but to also clean away the stain and its residue.

The LORD is the Only True and Living God. The nations, the seasons, and the earth are his. All people must come to revere his name and receive his grace.

There will be a time, when the things that happen around us will be so terrible, the things we experience now will pale in comparison. That is why it is critical that we immerse ourselves in the Word of God, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. Then, until Christ comes for us, we will be able to stand strong and not waver when these difficult times come.

Ephesians 2:4-5

"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved."

Of all things to be rich in, I cannot think of anything I'd prefer the Holy God to be rich in than mercy. I know my failures, shortcomings, sins, and transgressions. Without his mercy, to pardon again, and without his grace to send Jesus to pardon at first, I would be lost and without God. Now, because of his rich mercy, my life is tied to Jesus' future and not the one I earned for myself.

Isaiah 57:15

“For this is what the high and exalted One says; he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.”

The God who dwells on high in heaven above wants to also dwell with the humble here on earth below.

�This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed."

God tells in many times in His Word that we are a separate people from the world. Being different is not such a popular thing these days. When a new car or some electronic device comes out, millions flock to stores and stand in line to have them. As children of God, we may not have all the latest posessions, but unlike the people of this world, we will be Biblically knowledgeable, speaking His truth with wisdom, and serving others in Christlike ways that without a doubt set us apart from those of this world. How do we look to the people of this world? Are we set apart, different than the rest of the world?
