Ah, I lived in MA for 3 years, some time ago. I miss that state
I actually lived in Cambridge, between Harvard and MIT (Central Square on the T). What a great city. Now my city is Detroit...hmm...-can't win 'em all.
And I fancy agnostic just fine, -it's not mutally exclusive with atheism when used in the original definition of the word!

Right on. World needs more of us. Well, there's plenty of us. Just some of us have to be more quiet about it than others, right?
If we're talking labels, then, in the last few years, I've developed the habit of calling myself an apatheist. Cuz I just don't care.

I did a search for atheist bb'ers ... Alright this 9 post thread is my niche... Anybody ever find it hard to say to friends that you don't believe in god, jesus, joseph smith, jehovah, allah, buddah, zeus and all the magical people. I sure do. I feel like they reject me when I make it known.

Right here. I don't really tell anyone though. I get tired of the "you're going to buuurrnnnnnn!!!" line.

Yeah we are... You can't even be president without showing some kind christian faith...and Saying you found god gives you sympathy for jail sentencing and parole hearings.

I tried a number of religions, none of them felt right or seemed to offer anything genuine.
That said, I did find Jesus the other day - he was hiding behind the sofa the whole time!

atheist here as well. couple of good books to read about the subject:
Amazon.com: The God Delusion: Richard Dawkins: Books Richard Dawkins
Amazon.com: The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark:Carl Sagan, Ann Druyan: Books Carl Sagan is one of my favorite authors, scientist and atheist.
although i am atheist , i am not too thrilled with it. i want to believe. i want there to be life after death. i want evidence. i spend a lot of time thinking about god(s), creation, evolution, death, life and so on. in fact, sometimes if i'm awake late at night and i start to think that there is nothing after death, i feel like i'm going to throw up.
maybe that's why i'm exhausted...hehLast edited by chrisy520; 03-06-2009 at 09:07 AM.

im suprised to see so many on here its not often i find people who are so open about it. it seems liek everywhere you go atheists get slammed kinda look forward to it get to make the religious fanatics look stupid when i know more about their religion than they do.

Another atheist down here in Australia. I didn't think there were any non believers in the U.S. I always have to laugh when I happen to come across the likes of Benny Hinn on the TV and all those saps in the audience who gladly hand over millions of dollars every year. Simply amazing.

I'm definetly an atheist. I don't get caught up in how or why we're here. I have no idea why. Neither does anybody else. I could die tomorrow, in five minutes, or 50 years from now. I feel that when I die, I die. If there's this "after life" then so be it.
I don't have a religion of course, but I just go with the basic principles that human beings should follow. Don't kill, don't steal, etc... - 03-08-2009, 07:57 AM #24
All hail the FSM
