Get javaloader.exe from:
BlackBerry - Java Development Environment
(only download the "BlackBerry JDE Component Package Downloads 4.7". You will find the javaloader.exe when you open the JDE installer EXE with 7-zip")
Feedback is welcome.
I am also looking for volunteers to translate the help text into other languages.

Got it working and posted the unlocked 8800 themes:

@kasperapd: Good to know that the 8800 still supports the screenshot feature without changes.
But you could have made use of the shaded frame feature to make them look prettier... (joking)Last edited by oppiTronic; 02-23-2007 at 07:20 AM.

True, I was pressed for time and had to get ready for work, so this was a rush job.

Updates
There are a few updates to both tools.
You can use the built-in update function to get the latest versions or just download them again.
The password can now be remembered. To activate this feature edit the ini files and set the "rememberPassword" value to 1.
The password is stored simple encrypted in the ini file.
An "open lock" icon in the black startup screen will remind you that this feature is enabled.
To other values in the ini file can be used to tweak the timeout values for device detection and password check.
connecttimeout = 127
passwordtimeout = 255
Increase them if you encounter problems. (heard of it from a few 8703 models)
Some bugs have been fixed as well including the tray icon problem when using the hotkey feature and the use of foreign languages special characters in names for the AVI files and folders.
I am still looking for volunteers to translate the help text shown in the help screen of the tools.
Greetings
Michael
P.S.
I just got my 8800 and I have the impression that the screenshots go faster now when the new version of javaloader is used as well. (the new version is 100K and comes with the JDE components package 4.2.1)Last edited by oppiTronic; 04-14-2007 at 02:13 AM. Reason: grammar

I still cannot call a CURVE my own...so I can't try myself.
As far as I know it is not a problem with the CURVE, but with the OS 4.2.2 and a new policy setting or with some early version of 4.2.2
In the BES 4.1.4 there is a new policy "allow screenshot". If it is set to "false", the javaloader can't get access to the screen.
For prosumer models I have heard exists a method to import a policy setting.
I can't do anything to make it work, since my tools rely on the javaloader.
Sorry.

No news to the issue with the CURVE.
(must be related to a policy setting in 4.2.2)
But other news!
A new version is out with new feature based on user request.
New in Version 1.60a:
- in the password window the corresponding PIN of the device is displayed
- you can take screenshots from up to 4 devices connected to USB simultaneously
- the device PIN can be included in the file name (it will be included anyway when taking simultaneous shots)
- the rememberPassword feature works for all 4 devices as well (still no button for that, you have to set rememberPassword=1 in the .ini file)
- when doing simultaneous screenshots a combined picture is stored in the clipboard while the files are still saved separate.
Have fun!
Attached are some screenshots. (only 3 devices at once, that's all I have )

More news!
There is a new beta version of BBScreenStream as well.
New in version 0.90a:
- in the password window the corresponding PIN of the device is displayed
- you can select the device you want to show
- the rememberPassword feature works for all 4 devices as well (still no button for that, you have to set rememberPassword=1 in the .ini file)
- you can run multiple instances of BBScreenStream showing up to 4 devices simultaneously. (To do so copy BBScreenStream and the .ini file into another folder and rename it to e.g BBScreenStream2.exe)
Again have fun!
Screenshots attached.

Sure it does.
The javaloader.exe is part of the JDE Components Package available from RIM. I am not authorized to distribute it.

Ah, I have a question then, has anyone been able to get this to work on a Vista PC, and connect a Curve, and get screenshots?
BBM Channel: C000B75E8 - 09-09-2007, 03:03 PM
Thread Author #25
I can confirm that it works with Vista.
But I have no Curve and can't test it.
The Curve has the new OS 4.2.2 and this OS has a new security policy setting to prevent screenshots.
If you are connected to a BES 4.1.4 you can have your admin set the screenshot policy to allow again.
I don't know how to allow this for prosumer devices.
Another reason can be an old javaloader.exe. Try the latest version from the JDE 4.2.1 components package.
