First a comment, I am new to the developer community (1yr) and setting up your development environment is the hardest part of the process. That said,
    1. Are you a new developer?
    2. what type of apps are you looking to developer (ie. webworks, java, ect)?
    3. you have eclipse did you download the required jre or ide and the correct sdk for the type of apps your looking to create (webworks, java, etc)?
If your new to this stuff like me I suggest using webworks. Wobworks apps are simple to create are supported on BlackBerry 6.0-7.1, playbook, and will be supported on BB10. So there is plenty of life knowing webworks! Also Apple's iOS and android have a type of webworks call web apps (not as simple as RIM's).

The Momentics QNX environment is pretty good, too. That does QNX/Cascades native (in an adapted Eclipse environment).

I don't know if it's exactly the easiest on earth to use, but I wouldn't call it anymore difficult to set up than Android's.
