Today I checked what my Z30 does on the network. I used the protocol function of my WLAN router. Yes, it's not very detailed but it shows some things.

An appeasing result is that Google Safe Browsing is probably not used by the BB stock browser. This is something I wanted to know.

But I saw a cyclic web request every five minutes to wwwblackberrycom:

Mon, 2014-07-28 15:20:56 - Site Allowed: wwwblackberrycom, from source 192.168.0.9
Mon, 2014-07-28 15:15:55 - Site Allowed: wwwblackberrycom, from source 192.168.0.9

Does anybody know something about the contents and the reason of this request? Does this also occur on a cellular connection? What happens if I deny this in my router?

Most probably you'll get a notification message: "WiFi Connection Limited" within no more then 10-15 minutes.
But for sure you can try and see. I think this is the way phone checks internet connection presence.
One thing is confusing, it should have be www. blackberry . net instead of www.blackberry.com!?

I always asked myself what "limited" means. Probably they call it "limited" when wifi is on and the router doesn't report any problem but you can't access this special server. But still you could access a printer or a computer in the same wifi network. Would be interesting if they also to try some other servers if this one doesn't respond.

I try to get the original HTTP text of these requests. I'm interested in the informations my BB sends on and on.

I'm in Europe. May be they separated it a bit. I guess my Z30 is also not one of the American models. I would welcome the feature to configure this server.
