When I save a browser link on my phone it saves onto the phones desktop as a icon. I think this is a far icon but I am not sure. Is this correct.?

On my phone when I save a bookmark to my desktop it saves with an app-like icon. Is this the favicon?

PhpBB has no control over what icon your phone's webbrowser uses to save a bookmark. You should ask whomever wrote your phone's webbrowser app.

Yes it should be the favicon if you save it from the browser. If you use an app to create the shortcut, like the one in my sig, it can be any icon you want.

Facebook is the best example. When you save a bookmark link from the mobile Facebook site it saves to the bb10 desktop as an app icon. That's what I want.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking here?
You want to make a phpBB shortcut on your home screen with an icon?
You want to make shortcuts to other sites with their icons?
You want to make shortcuts to sites with your own icons?

Okay, here goes.

Open facebook in your blackberry browser.

Save that link as a bookmark to your phones home screen/desktop.

When this happens the facebook "f" appears as an app-like icon/logo in place of the usual small snapshot of the page you are looking at.

I just wanted to know how that was done. How facebook makes it so saving a bookmark to your homepage/desktop make an icon

Here is the basic setup for a favicon. You can do more with it, but this will let you set an icon that will show up on your BB home screen or any other browser that supports favicons. http://www.w3.org/2005/10/howto-favicon
