- Hi Guys,
I have a JVM Error 517 on my new Curve, less than a week old.
I am going to download Desktop Manager now, does it matter which version I get? Will I have to get 4.6 as I am installing 4.6 on the curve? Or should I get 5.0?
Cheers.08-11-09 03:57 PMLike 0 - amazinglygracelessRetired ModYou can use any version. The OS and DM do not have to match.
I would suggest the version without Media Manager.08-11-09 04:00 PMLike 0 -

My OS is 4.6. On one PC I have DM 4.2, on another DM 4.5, the 2 at home
are 4.6 and 5.0 and they all function exactly the same.08-12-09 09:58 AMLike 0 - Reed McLayRetired ModeratorThe advise is good for all models of BlackBerry.
Roxio Media Manager is optional, it adds over 100 Mb to the size of the download.
When Media Manager is installed, the default is to also install the indexing programs that startup automatically when your computer is restarted. These programs should do their work in the background. They are poorly written and force the CPU to run at 100%. This dramatically slows down Windows and any practical work you want to accomplish, like an device OS Upgrade.
My current Media Manager install does not automatically start, it is much easier to live with that way.
Media Manager does have some unique advantages. It is able to view and manager files in Device Memory.
It also has a video optimization feature that makes installing video clips to the media card practical without the need for third party video conversion.08-12-09 10:00 AMLike 0
