Basically I'm saying this...

I checked my blackberry messenger and some friends were gone. I backed up all of my info a couple days ago when they were there, and I was curious if I can update all the OLD ones, and keep the new ones without them erasing when I backed up my phone....

Or do I have to go about writing them all down and doing it again?

You can reload an older backup with them on your blackberry messenger then immediately create a new backup with them on there.
