Default Merging a Back-Up file with Current Phone

A friend of mine received a replacement phone two weeks ago, and started using it immediately.

She now wants to take the data from her old phone, and put it on her new phone. She has a DM backup of the old phone.

Is it possible to MERGE the data from the old phone and put it on the new phone, or is only option to REPLACE the data? She doesn't want to lose the SMS messages from the past week.

    Thanks!

Have her do a backup of the new phone. Then, without removing anything, restore the OLD backup. If both sets of data stay (automatically merge), she's done. If not, she can choose which set to keep, since she'll have both sets of data to restore.

I strongly suggest that you manually retrieve data instead of restoring the new phone from the old backup. You can try using Blackberry Backup Extractor to extract files within the backup to the computer and then manually import them to your new phone. That way you won't lose your new data. Cheers!
