The media option on my DM is shaded out and will not let me select it. the sync option I can click on but not the media one. I can't get to my files on my phone and change them. Sorry if this has been posted already, new to the boards.

What version of DM are you using? Has media manager ever worked? If you have a media card installed in your device just use mass storage mode. On your device go to options/media card and enable mass storage there. Now it will show up as removable storage device.
