    every time I sync, my home screen image gets cleared.

    (but the image thinks its set, the menu only has an entry for 'reset home screen image', so I need to reset it, and the set it again to get it back).

    Synching temporarily disables access to the Media Card where your image is stored. Resetting the image brings it back.

    it didn't do that with the previous versions of the desktop software!

    UPDATE:

    I updated my Bold to the newly released OS 5 from AT&T

    and now the sync does not clear my homescreen image.

    (and BTW my image is on internal memory, not on a media card)
