Looks as though they've put something into the package to keep us from putting leaks and betas on our phones. Disappointing to say the least.

There's no easy way to load "leaked" software on your BlackBerry device via BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac, according to Feldman. This is particularly interesting, because BlackBerry users with PCs can currently load just about any sort of compatible BlackBerry files via BlackBerry Desktop Manager's App Loader component. Feldman wouldn't get into details on how the "blocking" process might work, but he did say there's something in the Mac version meant to dissuade users from loading unofficial software.

Aren't the firmware packages currently only in PC format?

I think we'd be able to understand a little more once we start seeing firmware installers or what-not be compiled to run on a mac... only then we will be able to draw solid conclusions...
