- I can't backup my phone thru DM (I have Windows 7). Everything else thru DM seems to work fine, I just can't backup!11-06-09 08:05 PMLike 0
- I have the 501_b030_multilanguage download on a clean 64 bit install and no go. It worked fine under Vista 32 bit. The computer is a month old Latitude 6500 and I've updated BIOS and have all the latest drivers.
It's not working under XP mode either.
I will try it on a 32 bit system running on an Intel 965 board.11-10-09 07:44 PMLike 0 - Running Win 7 32 bit, and had issues, but the problem wasn't DM. It was the OS upgrade on my 9530.
See the second page of this thread. I was able to resolve the issue with some help. If you're not comfortable following the steps, VZ can help, just tell them you're on an XP or Vista machine so you can escalate to RIM. RIM will make a "best effort" but they aren't officially supporting Win7...
I'm still amazed that no one at RIM managed to play with the beta that has been out for a frickin year so that there was at least an attempt to be "ready"...

As far as your disappointment, I have to say I was surprised that it didn't work with clean install of first tier laptop as I said. At least it appears the phone is much faster.
Thanks.11-10-09 10:13 PMLike 0 - After much experimentation and consultation with RIM, I was told by RIM that RIM will not provide support for 64 bit Windows 7 operating systems that run Outlook 2010 until sometime in 2011.
There answer was so unbelievable and so frustrating, I ditched my Blackberry 8900 for a new Samsung Galaxy android operating system phone. With companionlink (free) I am now syncing everything in Outlook 2010 on my Windows 7 64 bit system and my phone. Bye bye Blackberry. I use Windows 7 64 bits and OL 2010 32 bit, no problem in using DM6...08-19-10 09:05 AMLike 0 - I for one have NEVER been able to get BB DM 6.0.XX to work on ANY Windows 7 64 bit machine (I have two completely different hardware platforms at home and work.)
It appears to be a DM 6 driver issue. More specifically the Blackberry driver appears to be incompatible with several different vendors 64 bit USB device drivers (Intel in this case.)
Symptoms:
1. Can only copy too from Blackberry memory in MTP mode. Otherwise copying two or from Blackberry will cause Windows Explorer to freeze and task killing it will cause Windows 7 to become so unstable that it won't even shut down properly.
2. Desktop manager 6 will start up and show your device and say "Connecting..." forever.
No amount of adjusting Memory storage modes will correct it.
Blackberry DM 5.0 Works fine on Windows 7 64 bit.
DM 6.0 Works fine on XP.
I have a Storm 2.12-02-10 02:56 PMLike 0 - Haven't seen any problems with DM. We're running Win7 Pro 64Bit and I've connected 8330s, 9650s and 9700s. On DM 6.0.0.4312-07-10 04:13 PMLike 0
- I've actually been searching for a solution for a problem I've been having with Win7 64 bit, but can't seem to find it. On both my personal laptop, and my work one, it doesn't fully shut down. When I'm done, I click the X. The window closes, but the process is still running in task manager. I can't open the program again unless I "end task" on the Desktop Manager process. Then I can open it again.
Anyone else had this problem?12-22-10 07:55 PMLike 0 - This is not true. DM6 fully supports Windows 7, 64 bits. It does NOT support Outlook 2010 64 bits. As Ive said several times here at CB, Microsoft recommends using the 32 bit version of Outlook 2010, which works fine with the new DM 6. You can search MS forums to learn why they recommend the 32 bit version.
I use Windows 7 64 bits and OL 2010 32 bit, no problem in using DM6...
I was running Office 2010 32bit on my Win XP-Pro and BBDT 6.0. No synch problems.
I just got a new Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit machine. I installed the Office 2010 (and just checked - it's the 32 bit version) and then installed (the newly downloaded) 601-b021_multilanguage.exe from Blackberry's site.
No installation problems; it connects fine to my Storm2, and it synchs media without problem. However, for "organizer", it cannot see Outlook - only Yahoo and ASCII.
Any suggestions... apart from spending yet more money to leave Blackberry...
Many thanks.12-29-10 05:42 PMLike 0 - You can use a previous version of DM and it works with 64-bit OS and Outlook 2010 64-bit. I am using version 6.1.1.13.01-12-11 01:20 PMLike 0
