6 Synchronizing organizer data
General
If you have two-way sync configured for your organizer data, and you switch to one-way sync to the device and update
an organizer data entry on your smartphone, if you then change the sync direction to one-way to your computer, the
change on your smartphone is not synchronized to your computer. (DT 3869608)
IBM Lotus Notes
If you have one-way sync to your smartphone from your computer configured for tasks and you have a conflict between
a recurring event on your smartphone and a non-recurring event in IBM Lotus Notes, if you choose to update the event
from your mail client, the event on your smartphone is updated but the event type is not changed from recurring to nonrecurring. (DT 3869694)
If you have two-way sync configured for upcoming tasks and you select the Create separate entries conflict option, if
you modify a field in a synchronized recurring task on both your smartphone and in your email client and then sync the
changes, the BlackBerry Desktop Software displays that one change has been made on the smartphone and one on the
computer, instead of indicating that one new entry has been added on both the smartphone and the computer. (DT
3869689)
If you have two-way sync configured and you create a recurring task on your smartphone and you set a reminder that is
relative to the task date, when the BlackBerry Desktop Software synchronizes the task to your computer, the alarm for
the reminder is incorrect. (DT 3869687)
If you have one-way sync from your smartphone to your computer configured for your calendar data and you update a
calendar event in IBM Lotus Notes and you make the same update on your smartphone, when you sync your organizer
data, the Conflict Resolution dialog displays a conflict with the calendar update that you made. (DT 3869678)
If you update a task that and then sync the changes, in the Items Dialog box, the BlackBerry Desktop Software shows
the Start Date as changed even though the value was not updated and has not changed from the original task. (DT
3869674)
If you configure two-way sync for your tasks, reminders set for recurring tasks in IBM Lotus Notes are not synchronized
to your smartphone. (DT 3869601)
If you configure two-way sync for your contacts and you create a contact from your smartphone and do not enter a last
name for the contact, when the contact syncs to your email client, the Title for the contact displays as 0. (DT 3869552)
If you configure two-way sync for your calendar and set an 'Is after <today's date>' filter condition, if you add a recurring
entry to your email client for the current date, the entry synchronizes in error. ( DT 3869535)
If you configure two-way sync for your calendar and you create an all-day entry or anniversary event on your computer
with a reminder set in minutes, the reminder on the smartphone will not be correct. (DT 3869532)
Release Notes BlackBerry Desktop Software
7 If you configure two-way sync for your calendar entries and you create a meeting on your smartphone, the BlackBerry
Desktop Software synchronizes the meeting to Lotus Notes as an appointment. From Lotus Notes, you can't change the
appointment to a calendar entry or invite attendees to the appointment. (DT 3869526)
If you configure synchronization for your memos and you click Advanced and then click the Fields tab, the BlackBerry
Desktop Software does not display any field mappings. (DT 3869522)
Changing a recurring calendar entry or task on your smartphone deletes the data in the invitees and dates fields after
synchronizing it to IBM Lotus Notes. (DT 3869489)
If you configure synchronization for your tasks and you disable the Due Date/Time field level mapping and then click
Sync, you receive the following error message: CRRecurringl::IsValidRecurringField: “ Due Date/Time” field NOT found
in FieldTempateMap. (DT 2370917)
Microsoft Outlook
If you are using Microsoft Outlook 2010 and have multiple email accounts set up, when you try to configure contact
sync, the BlackBerry Desktop Software might display an empty Profiles drop-down list even though you have multiple
profiles. (DT 3869840)
Workaround: For more information, visit BlackBerry Support to read article KB 24040. As well, visit
Microsoft Support to read knowledge base article 813745.
If you configure two-way sync for your contacts and you restore a .pst file to Microsoft Outlook and you restore a backup
file to your smartphone, the first time you synchronize your contacts, if a contact is in your email client and on your
smartphone, the BlackBerry Desktop Software prompts you with conflicts between the duplicate contact entries. (DT
3869765)
If you have two-way sync configured for your calendar and you have your events synchronized between Microsoft
Outlook and your smartphone, if you modify a field in an event from either your email client or your smartphone and
then you delete the same field from the other source (email client or your smartphone), when you sync your calendar,
the BlackBerry Desktop Software does not prompt you that there is a conflict for the event; instead it syncs the change.
(DT 3869677)
If you are a delegate and you create a calendar entry in another person's calendar, the BlackBerry Desktop Software
syncs the calendar entry in the other person's desktop calendar but the entry is not synchronized to the person's
smartphone. (DT 3869443)
If you change a non-mapped field for a contact on your computer, this contact shows up as changed during a sync. (DT
3869439)
If you configure two-way sync for your calendar, an extra entry is added to your calendar if you change a recurring
calendar entry from your email client and sync. (DT 2058847 )
If you configure two-way sync for memos, the BlackBerry Desktop Software might report a conflict between a memo you
create on your smartphone and a note you create in Microsoft Outlook even when the entries are unique. (DT 1254615)
Release Notes BlackBerry Desktop Software
8 Windows 7
If you have a synchronized recurring calendar entry and you delete an instance of the series from your email client and
you delete another instance from your smartphone, and then you sync your calendar, the BlackBerry Desktop Software
incorrectly adds the instance of the event that you deleted from your email client back into your desktop calendar. (DT
3869704)
If you have a synchronized recurring calendar entry and you delete any instance of the series, other than the first
instance, from your email client, when you sync your calendar, in the Item Details dialog, the BlackBerry Desktop
Software indicates that the Alarm Date and Alarm Time have changed although you did not change these fields. (DT
3869703)
If you have two-way sync configured for your contacts and you update the first and last name of a contact on your
smartphone, when you sync the change, the First and Last name fields are updated correctly in your mail client but the
Full Name field is not updated with the new information. (DT 3869679)
If there is a conflict after you sync your contacts and you accept the changes from your mail client, in the Items Dialog
box, the BlackBerry Desktop Software does not show the Changed from column; it only shows the Field and Value
columns. (DT 3869670 )
If you are using Windows 7 Calendar and you configure synchronization for tasks in the BlackBerry Desktop Software,
when you click Sync, the BlackBerry Desktop Software displays the following synchronization error message:
CPreferencesManager: Configuration Value for /Preferences 1/CalFilename not set in TransConfig.xml. Instead, the
BlackBerry Desktop Software should prompt you to select your calendar file. (DT 3869582)
Windows Calendar
If you have one-way sync to your smartphone configured and you create an all-day appointment in Windows Calendar,
when you sync the entry to your smartphone, the appointment is not flagged as All Day on your smartphone and the
duration of the appointment is 0 hours and 0 minutes. (DT 3869747)
Windows Vista
If you have two-way sync configured for your contacts and you update a contact from your smartphone, when you sync
the change, the update syncs to your contact list successfully. If you perform the sync again without making any
changes, the BlackBerry Desktop Software indicates a change has been made on your smartphone, although when you
view the Item Details, no information is changed. (DT 3869682)
If you have Windows Vista installed on your computer and you create an all-day event from your computer, when the
BlackBerry Desktop Software synchronizes the event to the Calendar application on your smartphone, the event doesn't
display as an all-day event on the smartphone. (DT 3869459)
Release Notes BlackBerry Desktop Software
9 Switching your smartphone or tablet
After backing up your data while switching your smartphone, if you click the back arrow to return to the Select optional
data screen and change your backup options and then continue, your backup doesn't start again. (DT 757762)
Certificates
If you select Notify me when a CRL server cannot be contacted during an update, the BlackBerry Desktop Software
doesn't send a notification when it cannot contact a CRL server. (DT 1261063)
You have the option to sync a certificate that is marked non-exportable, even though this type of certificate can't be
synced. (DT 1140159)
Media

No that I have heard of. I do work for BlackBerry Tech Support, it's been out for a while now and we have not seen any problems reported. If anyone runs into something weird, post it here and I'll look into it!

BPTS-BCTS: there are already a lot of threads regarding the problems with it syncing with outlook, once loaded on. Since you work for tech support, can you give us the correct instructions for downloading it, ie: delete old version or not, dealing with errors that are common, etc. The last time I upgraded DM was a long time ago and it seemed to be transparent and flawless, this one per the posts, seems to be full of issues. I, like many would like to download it but due to issues with losing info, contacts, calendar events/appointments, or not syncing correctly, we will not! I use my phone for buisness and it is a mirror of my outlook so I can't take a chance unless I know its flawless.
Thanks, Go1ndr
PS: Thank you for the above info as well!Last edited by go1ndr; 06-08-2012 at 01:06 PM.

Well I am sorry to hear that you all are having issue with the new BlackBerry DS. We do recommend that, before installing the newest version, you remove previous versions, as they may cause issues later on. Once removed, you may proceed with installing the version you just downloaded and everything "should" be fine.
I am more focused on the BES side of BlackBerry but I did start with BIS. What I can tell you all, is that, if you guys present any problems when backing up, restoring, or syncing your personal information... you should gather environment information, such as Device Model, computer OS, Desktop Software version, etc... Also, stuff like, when the issue first started, if it can be recreated, what has been tried to fix it, any piece of information that you think might help. Once you have all of this, call your carrier, so they can create a case for you and transfer the call to our Tech support.
I have seen some threads regarding issues with the new software, however, I have yet to see specific error messages or more detailed information. All I find is "it doesn't sync" "it doesn't not detect my device" etc, and that won't help. We need more detailed information so the issue can be narrowed down. If it is a new issue and is happening to many people, it will get noticed and worked on, trust me on this. Patience is a must on this, as all users have different computers and settings and any changes made on the software have to be reviewed with caution before proceeding - 06-16-2012, 04:09 AM #6
@BPTS_BCTS
BB 9380 Curve does not synchronize with Outlook 2007 on Win 7. Only messages is "could not complete synchronisation" and then shuts down DM.
Did not delete previous installation but PC had to restart after installation. Only version 7.0 Bundle 60 was available in the Win Control Panel to delete after restart
Deleted and back on version 6****. As for logging complaint with SP the only reply from CellC was that it is a RIM problem

I could not find anything for this issue, sorry! I tried looking up the error message even on Google and nothing came up. Why I would suggest is turning on one way sync from Device to Outlook. Then erase your calendar, memo pads, tasks and contacts list with the Delete Data function (Device > Delete Data > Selected data) and once deleted enable 2 way sync away.
Let us know if this works for you.

Come on RIM!
Following this thread is demoralizing. I have had a Pearl, Tour and Torch, and really like the BB platform. But reading this, folks download Desktop Software 7.0, and can't connect with Outlook. Ugh...I upgraded to OS 7.1 and had to downgrade due to problems. This is just not acceptable....I have been hoping BB10 will be a great improvement, but one wonders now...I think one fact that would still keep me with Blackberry is if I learn that there are similar hassles with Androids, and it's just a fact of smartphones. But if they upgrade easy, it will be a no brainer!! Anyone know?
John in North Carolina - 06-27-2012, 03:13 AM #14
I made the mistake of upgrading (why is that nearly always something that you regret rather than celebrate) and it all went pear-shaped. I have downgraded to V 6 and all is well again.
I tried to work out how to feedback my problems to RIM but trying to email support is well nigh impossible. I too will probably change to apple when my current contract is up. "Sigh"

Argh! How can RIM make this so f*ing hard! I had BB DeskTop Mgr V 6 working just fine. Had to buy a new Laptop, now all I can find download is BB DT Mgr V 7 & can't get it to synce my Music on my BB with the Windows Media Player. I have doulble checked all settings.
Any ideas?
I have heard people rumor for a year that RIM was going down, didn't belive it. Now I am seriously thing of moving to Android. Don't need headaches, just want to use it. Don't need Pentagon type security, my life ain't that important!
