Default Cant install desktop Manager!

I cant install desktop software.

Once the self extractor unzips, i get a box to select language. I tried with both english and spanish. After this, the install shield wizard starts loading a bar and ssays "configuring windows installer". This window takes about two seconds loading. Until here, everything seems fine as any regular software installation.

After this, another typicall window appears that says "preparing to install...". This window stays less than a second and then dissappears. After this, nothing happens again.

I also tried unzipping the self extractor .exe fil with winzip and also with 7-zip as recommended in this post: http://forums.crackberry.com/f153/ca...s-7-pc-381284/

I have tried several downloads and using different sources like softonic. I find the exact problem with bb desktop 5.0

I have Windows 7-64bit and i have recently installed the BB desktop on another computer which also runs windows7 64bit.

I hope someone can help me with this issue! Thanx

Have you tried installing DM directly from RIM's site? https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...247A852FAD3647

Do you already have an older version of DM installed on your PC? If so, have you deleted it? You also might want to try CCleaner to remove any leftover registry entries after deleting old versions.

Yes. I downloaded from there at first, then tried alternatives such as Softonic. Problem persists.

No. BB Desktop was never installed before. I have just bought my first BB smartphone.

Thanks again, J.

What browser are you using?

Some people have issues with BlackBerry software if they use Firefox or Chrome.

Try IE if you have not already done so.

Well Softonic has its own downloader, outside browsers. Its like a download manager but only for the file you choose to download.

I will give it a try with IE anyway, and will let you know, but seems to me that it won't help much.

I've never used Softonic. In fact, I've never heard of it.

I am running 64-bit Windows 7 Professional, and I have never had any issues installing any version of DM.

Softonic is same as cnet.com. It is just a website with tons of soft to donwload.

I am also running another pc with windows 7 64bit and installation worked fine. But with this other PC it is not working.

Seems to be a not-so-strange problem since i googled it and some people had the same issues, but still couldn't find an answer.

Ok. I've used cnet.com downloads before.

Try directly from RIM's site using IE and see what happens.

What is different about the PC that is not installing DM compared to the one where DM installed ok?

I have tried from IE and same answer. Also tried the very same installer file I used with my other computer. Still the same.

There is actually not much difference between my two computers.

Computer 1 (the one that worked)
Sony Vaio VPCEB17FX
64-bit Windows 7 home premium
i3 processor
2gb ram

Computer 2 (the one with the issue)
Sony Vaio VPCF1
64-bit Windows 7 home premium
i7 processor
6gb ram

Can you check the event log in Windows for MsiInstaller errors? Probably be in the applications log. To get to it, click start then right click on computer and choose manage. In there expand event viewer, then windows logs. Finally click on application. Find those from when you tried to install and paste the text here.
