The BlackBerry Classic will be sold by AT&T in the US, as confirmed by the U.S. wireless carrier today. However, it did not reveal a launch date nor a price point for the smartphone. Verizon Wireless also posted word they will sell the smartphone, but did not offer a price point. The carrier said it will sell the BlackBerry Classic sometime in early 2015

Good news. With ATT as a carrier my Classic is unlocked and ordered already. No waiting for an official release..

The target audience - enterprise, is going to need it to be available from their chosen carrier(s). Unless BlackBerry is pushing these through some new corporate sales network they have suddenly put into place with heavy discounts... and full support.

Nope. BlackBerry will not handle direct sales for devices (yet they will for SW and services).
But you have to note that the "carrier subsidized device" is a model that is turning out to an outdated* one.
VARs are now more agile and offer packages (services, software, computers, smartphones) and apply the same logic (leasing, fleet redemption, ...) that most of large enterprises want. Carriers will handle voice/data, other channels will do the rest.

    * In France, 2 years ago, less than 20% smartphones were sold off contract. Now it's 50% and growing.
