Default Soon to be Cellular South BB User Worried...

Well, in April, I will get my first cell phone, the Blackberry Pearl 8130 with Cellular South as my Carrier (I have to get the Pearl, not because of it's price, but because its size and my school's strict policy of no students with cell phones, so yeah...no Curve for me haha. XP)
Anyway I was wondering:

- Will Cellular South still be selling the Blackberry Pearl 8130 by April of next year? I know this is a silly question, but looking that they are basically giving them away for free, I was wondering if they are trying to clear the inventory...and it kind of has me worried, I really want a BB Pearl 8130.)

- Where is the Blackberry Data Plan for Cellular South? Is it called: Smartphone Plan now? I was just wondering because my friend said that Cellular South has a good and cheap Blackberry Plan that was 49.99 a month and said that it would be perfect for me.

I went to CS today to pick up a otter box for my curve. My wife wanted to look at the pearls and asked one of the girls about it. She said you do not want a pearl i asked why? She said they were having a lot of problems with them such as not enough memory and other problems. Maybe folks were loading them up with unnecessary applications. She said they would not be getting any more pearls. I asked her then when will the new blackberry bold be in? She said we will not be getting any more in. Well that sort of sucked hearing that. She said they would be getting the new htc in. Ah screw that i will just keep my curve until it falls apart and then change carriers. luvitlo i talked to the girl that is short and has the black spiked hair. That is the one that told me the info.

I know which girl you are talking about...I'll talk to the Manager she is not supposed to do that...They warned me that you have to keep the memory cleaned out on the Pearl....the Big Guy, Black usually behind the desk....He is the New Phone expert. And yes C South is going under a contract with HTC, but they are also getting new Nokia and have to keep their BlackBerry customers happy......
P.S. that girl has never been able to help me....she did some stuff on my first Pearl for me and I had to go back and get a REAL SALES REP to fix it back. She never backs out of the browser propperly, She intentionally tries to make your Berry lock up so you will want a new one...COMMISSION, you know haw that works.
I'll ask Big Guy about the Pearl but he has not mentioned anything about it being discontinued yet.

I seen the new htc and they are ugly. No offense to the owners of this phone just my personal opinion.

Cell South not carrying Berries anymore???? Sounds fishy to me. I hope that is not the case. I have been with Cell South for a very long time and would not think twice about leaving if they decide to stop carrying BB. Thats just rediculous!

I'm out of state right now but when I get home as soon as I see ONE that I trust, or see my mother's friend, Melinda whom manages the Greenwood location I'll question this. I played with a Bold at an AT&T store today and I want this phone.....I'm sure no company would mind buying my contract out from C South if they are quitting BB then alot of people will leave. My cousin had me do some stuff on her Moto Q...Windows OS of somesort. I hated the OS and I love BB OS it is easy and works great. I won't switch to another PDA BB is too good and reliable.

I agree totally! I have literally become addicted to these phones! Cell South to stop carrying the devices is suicide on all sides of the fence....business and personal. I love Cell South's plans, rates, and service. HTC devices are crap....I am sorry to those that have them , but I have never touched one that even remotely manages like a BB. I would LOVE to have the Bold!!!!!

Cell South is an independent CDMA company, privately owned. They started up on their own....did not branch from another company such as Powertel became TMobile. It all started in MS btw.

Default Any news on this subject?

I am getting ready to purchase my first BB and I am a Cell South customer. My wife has the Pearl and I really don't like it. I would much rather have the Curve. Does anyone know if they will be offering a similar deal on the Curve or a newer model BB? Thanks

I just upgraded from the Pearl to the Curve a few days ago. There is not a similar deal on the Curve right now....and they acted like to not expect it anytime soon. It was on "sale" for $99 a few weeks ago but a respectable source told me not to expect that anytime soon. The World Edition 8830,however, is on sale for $99. I LOVE my Curve. I didn't realize I was missing this much with the Pearl! The Pearl's keys drove me CRAZY!

the pearl does suck. ive had 4 warranty claims since the release date. im getting robbed on warranty claims. they will charge for software issues. i never had these kind of issues with my 8703e. i will not recommend the pearl to anyone. sad to say i paid regular price for it now its free. they will no longer exchange the pearl for another bb due to it being free.

I have no problems out of My pearl or my wifes. Have to change trackballs once a month cause of heavy use but they like 5 to 7 bucks on eBay. Not worth a warranty claim to me but I seen several people do warranty over a stuck trackball.
