Denise, I too have a Tmo device I need to sell and do t know how to get the MEP code. Since I'm no longer with Tmo, but perhaps if u font mind pm+ing new, Would u mind sharing what Tmo put u thru to get the code do I know what kinda stuff and time involved to set aside before I attempt getting. The code from them?

If you don't have a T-Mobile plan, they will not give you an unlock code. You would need to buy a code, which would be faster anyway than getting a code from them.

If the phone is paid off, wasn't reported lost or stolen, and you were the first owner of it, try calling them at (877) 453-1304. Then tell them you would like to request the unlock code. At the most, they'll deny you and you'll have to buy a code as Denise suggested. But this way, you have little to lose. TMO generally isn't very rigid about this, as long as you meet their requirements (which you can see here: Unlock your mobile wireless device | T-Mobile Support)
