Default What to expect when moving from BES to BIS

I've been using a hosted BES service with my BlackBerry but recently my telco has restricted BES service to organizations and individuals can only use BIS.

I use Google Apps and the first thing I noticed is that none of the pictures for my contacts sync. Also deleting/reading stuff from my desktop now takes quite a while to reflect on the BB vs BES where it was almost instant. On the good side, I can now syn Facebook cal and contacts as well as Twitter contacts.

What I would like to know is now that I'm on BIS, I'm guessing my settings etc. will not be saved on a server correct? So basically, will I have to use Desktop Manager to backup my device every now and then? Anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks

If you use GMail your emails will sync but it is much slower, also your contacts pictures will not sync.

Google calendars and contacts will sync but again slower than before.

you can use blackberry protect to do a back up via the network but this does not do such a complete back up as the desktop software.

Thanks for your quick response. What about all the Facebook contacts that I have associated with BB contacts? Does that setting get saved in desktop?
