THANKS! Had the same problem and your answer fixed it.

I have tried every thing mentioned in this post and I still have the message indicator stuck there. I just upgraded my Verizon Tour 9630 to 5.0 so I was thinking maybe that had something to do with it. Any more input would be appreciated this is driving me crazy.

If not, is it the regular envelope icon or is it something different? It could be push content, PIN message, etc.

Let us know if battery pull doesn't clear it up.

Default unread message indicator

okay i tried just everything that everyone sugested and nothing worked, then i realised when i initially set up my email account i have two envelopes in my menu. One was already there and then one is the one i set up when i added my gmail account.. It was drving me crazy at first b/c i did not know hot to get rid of one. After all they seem to be one of the same. So i moved one off my home menu. Then I realised that even though i had no messages in my inbox on the home screen the other envelope in my menu that i do not use still had a message. once I deleted/cleared the messages from both in boxes the indicator was gone. BTW anyone know how to get rid of one of the in boxes. They both are the same. It's weird though I just delete the one i created (my email act) then the in-box envelope that the phone had wont be active. Sooooo i am puzzled as to what to do about that. Now I probably will have to keep deleting mail out of both folders.

thanks and i hope this will fix the problem for some of you. it did for me.

Just to let others know i'm on a verizon 8530 (Curve 2). None of these suggestions worked for me. I have both my corporate Microsoft exchange mailbox and my gmail account setup on my bberry. The way I fixed this was to change my phone logging back to all calls.

Phone Options | Call Logging | All Calls

Then i had to go to my main Messages folder icon. Within Messages I hit the menu button and selected "Search"

Within Search, I changed the "Show" filter criteria to "Received"

This took a minute to retrieve all the results, but returned almost 7000 messages across everything in my bberry. I was then able to "Mark Prior Opened" from the top date, and VOILA!!!!

WHAT A ROYAL PAIN!!!! BUT WHAT A RELIEF!!!! Back to Crackberry peace of mind!

Default a quick fix

Hi! I have a Blackberry Curve 9300 and work on a Data Team that works with Blackberries and Smartphones. One of the quick fixes instead of a battery pull would be to go into the email inbox, press the blackberry key (the dotted key), go to search - scroll down to "show" and change it to "unopened" and then click the blackberry key again and select search. It will open up a list of all the unopened messages even the hidden ones! then you can go through them in the list and then exit out when you are done!
