Default unread message indicator

Thanks for your help.

I have an 8700 series product, and I use it daily for business. The message indicator in the top left says that I have 2 unread messages, but all of the messages in the folder have been read?

Has anyone come across this or do you have any suggestions?

If you press 'U' it is supposed to take you to the next unread message, but it indicates that everything has been read? Does being connected to a BES server have something do to with this?

Thanks again,

Steve

Try a battery pull yet? That usually clears incorrect message counters.

If not, is it the regular envelope icon or is it something different? It could be push content, PIN message, etc.

Let us know if battery pull doesn't clear it up.

Also, please be sure to fill in your profile with your BB model and carrier. It helps us help you.

Same thing happens to me, a battery pull usually works or the BB just "cathces up" and realizes there are no unread messages. It seems to happen more often when I have 10 or more unread messages.

Thanks for your responses,

I updated my carrier info for you, it is an 8703e with Telus. The battery pull did not work?

The indicator is just for normal email messages. Any more suggestions?

Battery pull almost always works. Hmmm.

You might want to resend the service books using your BIS site. Then pull the battery again and see if that works. Otherwise, I am out of suggestions.

I just had this happen to me today. Look at your saved messages. For some reason on my phone saved messages don't appear in the regular message list, and I accidentally saved an unopened message this morning and it took me all day to figure out what was wrong with my phone. Its worth a shot!

In Messages, highlight the date and click "mark prior opened." If that doesn't do it then you likely have saved messages as posted about above. While in Messages click the trackwheel and select "View Folder". Then check the saved messages folder. You can do the "mark prior opened" in there too if there are a bunch of messages there. Also in that same View folder menu check "Missed calls" and "Phone call Log" folders and do the same "mark prior opened." If you like you can do a "delete Prior" as well.

This is my first blackberry and I had this problem and it was driving me CRAZY, tried all these solutions, battery pull, etc. But turned out to be answered here: forums.crackberry.com/f79/message-indicator-question-18545/
My little envelope indicator was designating a missed call that was not appearing as unopened in the general call log, but was only deletable when I chose view folders and then missed calls. Use the solution in the post mentioned above, go to: phone>menu> options >phone logging and select 'none' Relief will be yours.

this is a common issue and there is a way to fix it...
get someone to send you a text message delete the text message and powercycle the device....let me know if this fixes it.
