SMS Text not configured, what to do?

Hi all,

I received a blackberry phone from work but the company is not paying for text messaging. Unfortunately texting has become a way of life for me. Are there any applications ot tools I can use to send/receive texts otherwise?

my phone is an 8700c with AT&T

also, i could previously send and receive texts just find but over the past week, am not receiving anything and everything i send shows as "sent" but doesn't go anywhere. can i find those message as well?

That is a carrier feature. If it is not on your plan, no luck unless you find a web app.

I just switched back to a blackberry from WM6 (it just crashed too much).
With the WM6 device i used Good Messaging to sync w/ Outlook 2007.
Unfortunately, with Blackberry, my company uses Blackberry Enterprise Server, and they are able to turn off my SMS and MMS services for compliance reasons. I'm currently looking for a work around, because i use SMS and MMS functionality a lot. Any ideas???

Talk to the person in charge of ordering phones, changing plans, adding features and what not for your company. I'm sure you can negotiate getting a text plan.
People request them all the time from me.

another way would be to try your carriers website as they would have a text messaging option from the website for you to be able to send it to anyone "within your carrier"...but not very practical since there are alot of carriers out there
