Default Multiple PIN messages

Hello ALL:

I currently work for a state agency and I am responsible for all the wireless devices or our 10,000+ users. I need to know if there is a way to send multiple (group) PIN messages. I have researched 3rd party applications but I was wondering if there was a way to setup groups in my BES and on my BB 8820. Re: Announcements of server down or emergency situations. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure there is... have you experimented with "Groups" in your address book? Create a group and and contacts that have a PIN.

Don't know about the BES side of things.

If you create a group in your address book with all of the applicable users in it, then highlight that group (while in your address book) and hit the BB button, it will give you an option to PIN the group. That should work.

Thanks, I thought of that but I support nearly 10,000 BB through out entire state. So all the users are not in my personal address book. I can export the stats which include the current pins for all our users.

I guess you have taken a look a Onset's, METAmessage for Blackberry?

PIN Address Updating, Lookup
METAmessage allows for the creation of a directory of PINs, or Personal Identification Numbers, and associates these PIN numbers with the users information. This information can be pushed down routinely to the users Blackberry, and is stored on the device – making it instantly accessible to all users in an emergency. Users can also update all addresses or lookup a single PIN address by providing a name or name fragment – METAmessage then refreshes the user’s BlackBerry Address Book. PIN updating is fully configurable – addresses can be hidden as needed.

Message Blast
In an emergency, messages often have to go out to special categories of workers – for example, one notification may go to all office managers, another message may go to all field personnel, etc. METAmessage lets a BlackBerry user send one message to many addressees using virtually any number of unique distribution lists. The user can blast two types of groups: a group of addresses created by an administrator and pushed to the user, or an existing BlackBerry Address Book group. After selecting a group, the user simply composes a message and sends.

Custom Message Alerts
Custom message alerts lets administrators and users set notification rules in order to differentiate messages from different senders or with different subjects. For example, you can set alerts so that any message from a central-command or supervisor's email or PIN address or any message with “Urgent” in the Subject: line appears as a popup window with an audible alert. Importantly, custom alert rules override default handheld settings such as silent mode Blast an Emergency Message – every Blackberry in your business can sound the alarm and require action

Read/Receipt Capabilities
In an emergency, administrative personnel need to know who has gotten what messages when. Was an evacuation alert read? Did a distribution list receive a vital notification in time? Does IT know about a system breakdown?

Read receipt is an electronic roll-call feature that indicates when messages have been delivered and/or opened.
