Default Curve won't connect to BES server. Carrier issue or what?

I'm having some weird issue with a Curve here. I got a password to get connected to our corporate BES server but when I try to connect it just sits there for several minutes and then tells me it can't connect.

Is there anything on the carrier end that needs to be enabled for this? The phone is otherwise fine, data is active etc. etc.

Ideas?

Blackberry traffic needs to be enabled on the sim card.
Are any other user's having problems activating their device?
Are you using lotus notes or outlook?
Disable all rules in your mail application and make sure nothing is ending up in your junk mail from RIM.

Furthermore, a BES feature needs to be added to the service, the plain BIS which will allow "Blackberry traffic" on the device, is not enough.

I would also like to add, if the network@etp message does appear in the users mailbox, right click on it and select "Add to safe senders list" and allow the domain.

Not to say that you suggestion wont work, it wasnt the solution that worked for me.

I found that you have to disable all rules and if that doesnt work then add a new registry entry to the user's computer.
Outlook 2003
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\O utlook\Security

Outlook 2007
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\O utlook\Security

and add a new entry.
String Value Name - Level1Remove
String Value - etp.dat

But try both suggestions as either one may work for you
