Exclamation Blackberry technology analyzed

Are you aware of any official documents that actually present the unique compression that RIM reaches on its devices compared to other phones on the market? I think that's their main advantage, but did not find anything on the web or on their official site..

Can someone help?

It depends if you are a BIS user or BES user. For BES users the compression is done at the bes server and decompresses at the handheld. It is easy to see in your BES logs the compression ratio (often 30%-50%) The logs will show a request and it will log 2 values OTA(over-the-air) payload size and OTW (over-the-wire) payload size

Obviously you want the lowest OTA payload size you can get.

For BIS the compression happens at the BIS servers and decompresses on the handheld

hope this helps
