Default BES Exchange Rules, e-mail Folders

So i setup a rule to foward all e-mails from a certain e-mail address (an automaic e-mail alert system) to a folder through exchange, however that folder is not automatically updating and alerting me on my blackberry. I get a lot of theses messages every day and i'd like to be able to filter them out this way but they need to alert me on my 'berry as well. any ideas?

So what your saying is that you have created a rule in your inbox to move messages to a certain folder and it is not happening on your device? If so once you move the original message from your inbox it gets moved on the server and will remove itself from your blackberry.

If the folder you are moving them is in your mailbox (as opposed to a public folder) then you need to setup folder redirection on the folder you move them to.

I've read your question a couple different ways and it sounds like you have a rule for the original email to go in a folder (and not be in your inbox) on your PC but you also want it to show up on your device. I just noticed recently with a rule I set up for emailed resumes to go to a dedicated folder that they didn't appear on my device, it skips the inbox so it skips the device too. How about adding another condition in the PC rule to also copy another email account that is set up on your device Messages so you still get notified?

Default Folder Redirection

This is fairly simple to set up.

I had this very same issue a while ago.

your first step is to set up a rule in outlook that will move any message from a specific person to a subfolder of your inbox. (you have already done this).

Next you need to change your folder redirection setting on your phone. you can do this via Blackberry Desktop Manager or directly on your phone.

To do this on your phone, open up your message list and press the menu button.

Select options, email settings

Next press the menu button again, and select folder redirection.

From the folder tree, place a check mark in the folder you wish to have redirected to your device. (by default only your inbox and sent items folder are redirected).

Press the menu button and select SAVE.

Again, press the menu button and select SAVE.

Press the back button to return to your message list.

After this is complete any new messages that come in from the address specified in your rule will be automatically be moved to the folder and redirected to your device.

Hope this information helps.

This is excellent, thank you for this tip.

I was hoping this would work just the same to help me solve a related problem, but it does not work.

My problem is my gmail address. I have had my work-provided BB bold (on a BES) for a week, and the whole week I have been trying to configure it so that *all* my gmail does not get dumped into my "messages" folder.

I have a dedicaded mailbox for my gmail that works just fine (only messages that land on my gmail inbox get redirected), but much as I try, I have not managed to prevent *all* my gmail (unfiltered!) to land into my "messages" folder, where it gets mixed with my work e-mail.

Can anybody please help me out? I don't know what else to try!

Iza

None of my Gmail mixes with my work email on my BES account. Here's how: Go to gmail.com on your BB browser, a login screen appears, click in the upper left corner on the link to "Get faster Gmail". Install the Gmail application, allow all permissions, and you will have a completely separate Gmail icon for your personal email. If you keep the application open always, it will tell you when a mail arrives with LED indicator and a star on the icon. You will have to relaunch Gmail if you reset your phone. Sometimes it may take 15 mins or so for the mail to arrive but you can force delivery by opening the mail menu and click refresh. If it does not work this way for you, go into your gmail account from your PC and go into Settings and make sure that POP email is enabled and IMAP is disabled. There is also a Gmail plugin that is available in addition to the Gmail application that is supposed to eliminate the 15 min delay but there is mixed results and some frustration with it - I've decided not to go there. Enjoy!

How do I do this on OS 6? I looked through all the email options and don't see folder redirection.
