Default Alert Matrix - How are you using it?

After picking up ToDo and Idea Matrix recently, and then hearing Kevin rave about Alert Matrix, I went ahead and picked up a copy myself even though I probably really don't have a real need for it (other than to have another cool app on my Blackberry).

Basically, my impression is that this app is most helpful to someone who is getting flooded with contacts daily and that needs to be able to quickly identify key contacts they need to make, without worring about wasting time looking at every incoming contact.

Since I don't have that many calls coming in, I guess what it will do mostly for me is allow me to have yet another way to alert me like a Whitelist, if I want to choose to not be bothered with incoming calls/contacts.

Anyway, just wondering what others are doing with it.

I am a big fan of RexWireless, and I got my hands on this app the second (okay, minute) the release was made. (I even had it calendared on my ToDoMatrix - another one of their apps, which is terrific by the way...)

I use Alert Matrix religiously, and it has been a great app for me so far. I don't get THAT many emails during the course of a day, but I get enough that I don't want to be bothered with alerts several times an hour. Thus, I changed all of my profiles to be mute for all of my email accounts (I have 5). For those emails that I know I want to hear, I create a rule, and voila! It gives me great peace of mind knowing that I will get the truly urgent ones, wherever I happen to be, and whatever mode my BB happens to be in. (The only time I get concerned about this is when I am in court - yes, I'm a lawyer - and I cannot have ANY alerts go off.... in that event I simply turn the handset off.)

In my opinion, Alert Matrix is a great app whether you get 100 emails/text/calls a day, or just 10. From what I understand based upon talks I have had with folks at RexWireless, there are even more goodies to come. Can't wait.

Reminds me of the time I went to court for a client (I'm a shrink), and realized later that I had lost my phone.

I called it, fully expecting the judge to answer, reprimanding me for losing it in her court room where it was found when it went off.

Luckily (or not) it wasn't lost, but rather stolen by someone in court that day who promptly downloaded about $70 in games. AT&T put an end to their fun and all was well again.

Very funny (albeit not likely so at the time for you). I knew of a judge that put a lawyer into lockup because he refused to shut his phone off despite repeated orders that he do so. Some people never learn...

I would try it, but it seems like a rip off of WebMessenger's Message Alerts with less features. There is also e-mobile alerts which is pretty much identical to this product as well. I guess the only difference would be which UI you prefer. The thing is that WebMessenger also offers a Enterprise version of this product that allows you to centrally push rule sets to multiple devices and lock down rule sets which is cool for a corporate environment... The enterprise version of WebMessenger is on its own as far as I know, no one else offers these features.
